For the beach/pier location for Friday night, it is settled on Balboa Pier beginning at 6 pm, with a restaurant/bar base at Cabo Cantina. TV and press likely to be there.

Sorry guys, just got free but with traffic now on the 5 all yellow (except near the end).... there's no way we'll be able to make it down in time.

Maybe next event..

Well.. I guess we are on our way after all.. on the frw now... see you all there..

Just talked to Jeremy..he's already in Tustin...

Very cool. I'm already at the hotel, have met some of the Tour members. Took some photos of the Tour LEAF and some of the cycles. Should be a fun chat when you guys get here.

We were on the 5 for 2.5 hrs and only made it to Downey.. or basically 31 miles. We would have hit Tustin by 6:30 and then charge and then off to Cabo... soooo much damn traffic

So we ended up going to SM and having dinner and looking at all the chargers around there..

Don't know how this group was or if it's worth going to SM again this evening?

We had a really nice discussion with the group, Jason, and we had a good time. There is only one EV, a LEAF, plus electric scooters, electric motorcycles, including Terry, the guy who went on Tony's BC to BC ride, and electric bicycles plus a 3 person film crew. Fun, interesting group. The LEAF driver comes from a Nissan corporate background, and it was fun to talk with him about charging along the way.

I'd recommend going to meet them, but expect not to be the center of attention. Their film and their mission is the focal point. That said, you might be interviewed for their documenary film as Jeremy, Gary and I were.

Thanks for the info, but since it seems like we'll be the only ones going now to SM we might pass. There's a meteor shower tonight so we're thinking about driving up to Gorman to watch.

Didn't realize they have 480v 3 phase at the top of the hill now!

hmmm

Our Next Gathering, 24th August, is in Santa Ana for breakfast
at Hometown Buffet on 17th street, just 2 blocks East of I-5.

That evening, from about 5 to 8 the San Diego group has a
barbecue scheduled at Tony Williams home.

If you make both events, you will really be learning to manage
your car's range.

Barbara is having a knee replacement in the 23rd. Hopefully in a few months she will be better than she has been in a long time. She you guys when we can, maybe Christmas time.

My wife has a knee replacement, so PM if you want to chat,
either in person, or on the phone.

They have you walking a bit the next day.
The more flexible you are (muscles, tendons) going in,
the easier the recovery, generally speaking.

Our best wishes are with you.
Sincerely, Gary

The End of our 3rd year of Gatherings is upon us.
Amazing how far we have come, and how slowly.

I thank you all for helping me through these years.

Join us this coming Saturday for breakfast at the Hometown
Buffet on 17th Street in Santa Ana, just 2 blocks East of I-5.

Bring a friend, or just surprise someone with breakfast.
CU Soon., Gary

We plan on doing this.. It'll be a full day!

After HTB and the morning meet, then we'll be taking the scenic route down to Tony's. A full day indeed!

Just don't envy the drive back :(

Secret Project!! ssshhhh (Don't tell anybody!!) :D

Firmware update F1.10 for the GID-Meter seems to be working
well enough, but I need to check that its logging ability was not
compromised in some way.

Assuming that the logging is still OK, I will be able to do upgrades this
coming Saturday morning at our end-of-three-year Gathering at
the Hometown Buffet on 17th street in Santa Ana just 2 blocks
East of I-5.

See you there.
