...stuck on a freeway and not moving for hours! What happens to our cars then if you left it on. How would that deplete the battery?

An electric car can handle that situation much better than a gas car. Once you turn off the air conditioning/heat, the car uses very little electricity to just sit there. In fact, the Leaf gets the best mileage when going 12mph. So if you're moving even a little bit, you'll probably get better mileage than you would going highway speed.

I just got the Take A Break symbol just after turning on the car this afternoon to come home from work. Scared the hell out of me, like it's reading my mind. Glad to see this thread. I'm going to leave it on and see when it comes on again.
