As an owner of a 2011 with the electric parking brake which worked reliably even after the crash who was forced to switch to a 2015 with the foot brake, I agree with Tom T and Salisbury Sam--the electric brake is far superior. I have already had something slip in the foot pedal mechanism so the pedal goes closer to the floor to set the brake (happened at about 2,500 miles, but is no worse at 7,400 miles). I will have it looked at when I take the car to the dealer for its first inspection. As far as long-term reliability is concerned, I would be really concerned if I lived where salt is used on the roads because the cable runs through a long metal tube that is bound to get rusty.
