From the linked article:mynameisjim said:Are Tesla salesman told me that the A and B class EVs have a Tesla drivetrain.
Developed in partnership with Tesla, the near-to-production-ready MPV presages the B-class Electric Drive to be sold in selected markets from early 2014 as part of broad based zero emission model offensive set to be launched by Mercedes-Benz in Paris.
Mercedes claims the 28-kWh pack is good for 115 miles of range

If the other article on wired is right about the mid-price 30k range Nissan will have hard time selling its higher priced Leaf models.

is this another LA4 estimate?
Depends on a few more things though, it's not so cu t& dry. Weights of the vehicles, aerodynamics, drive unit efficiency etc. More capacity means it SHOULD be better, all other things being equal. But we don't know that they are indeed equal. With Tesla helping one hopes they would provide a leg up, but again the Germans like to do things their way, and they are not trying to ape Nissan. They have a different business model. So we just have to wait and see real life experiences with it.leafedbehind said:"28 kWh lithium-ion battery"
This pretty much tells us what we need to know. Range will be slightly better than a LEAF.
ILETRIC said:That range says city miles. We're looking at 80 freeway miles. What a waste of time, Mercedes...
At this stage of the game anything short of 35-45 kw battery won't do. I am tired of 73 mile range of my Leaf. It's way too bothersome, particularly in winter when it drops down to 68 or so. It's like iMiev.
