Re: Considering trading in for a BMW i3 Rex

You need to take the BMW on a test drive on an actual freeway going 70 mph. It will scare the heck out of you and that will be the end of that thought! Those tires as so narrow that and side wind at highway speeds is a white knuckle experience.

We are an actual owner of a BMW i3. Ours is the BEV since 2014, and all of us enjoy it.

Problems: Zero faults since delivered new in 2014.

We did order a Leaf before that but cancelled the order after finding the Leaf has zero battery temperature control. The i3 was the next electric car coming onto the market in our area and has real battery thermal management. The summer temps in our area are similar to Arizona.

In the context of the i3:
BEV = Battery Electric Vehicle aka pure electric
REx = Range Extender version

More problems I spotted today (4/1/18), will post more/edit if I have time:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/BMWi3/p ... 266794492/ - '14 REx, fuel door won't open w/button, emergency plastic release broke, drivetrain warning
https://www.facebook.com/groups/BMWi3/p ... 446809574/ - '14 REx, fuel tank system malfunction. Poster says his car's been in for a warranty failure every 6 weeks since he's bought it.

I leased a 15 Rex because of the great lease rates. I would not do it again. Car has frequent errors that require trips to the dealer to fix. Track is too narrow and the car handles poorly because of it at high speed.

Yep. i3 REx is unreliable. No thanks. Hang out on the FB group that I pointed to earlier for a few weeks.
