What time does the meeting start and I presume it's at City Hall? Never been to a council meeting before, but I'll be near the area around 6pm this evening...

Edit: Google'd it

Starts at 6pm, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Wednesdays of each month.

The Council unanimously and enthusiastically voted to enter into discussions with the group regarding a short-term (2-year) below-market-value lease (because it benefits the City) for the installation of an "EV Fast-Charging Oasis".

Thanks To Randy, Angus Clark (EVOasis) and the Clinton Foundation for their appearance.
It seems we have all the right players, the right location, and a sympathetic council !

Drees, good to see you there too.

+1!
Wasn't sure what to expect at my first city council meeting, but sure learned a lot about Encinitas tonight! The entire council seemed to be particularly excited about this proposal, so I hope it moves forward. Having a QC near home can be useful those times when you've got lots of driving with brief stops at home.

Likewise, always good to put faces to (forum) names.

The council went through a significant change last November, for the better IMO. Ironically the ousted council member whose arrogance finally woke the sleeping electorate and drove them to the polls is a LEAF driver !

The CEC has approved a grant for $500k to get this going:

http://www.energy.ca.gov/releases/2014_ ... eting.html

Electric vehicle charging stations
California has a goal to get 1.5 zero-emission vehicles (ZEV) on the road by 2025. Energy Commission's Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program (ARFVTP) has already allocated nearly $400 million to help bolster statewide ZEV infrastructure and create a viable market for these vehicles. Today, the commission approved $1 million in ARFVTP funding to install electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Encinitas and Sonoma County. Corridor Power, Inc was awarded nearly $500,000 to install 10 electric vehicle fast chargers in Encinitas and the County of Sonoma was awarded $500,000 to renovate 10 existing electric vehicle chargers and install three new electric vehicle chargers.

PS - the $500k for the Sonoma County stations is absolutely ridiculous. Unless I'm missing something, I estimate that the proposed work there shouldn't cost more than $145k.

Looks like this project is still moving forward:

http://www.delmartimes.net/encinitas-ad ... story.html

The says that it will be available to "Encinitas residents and employees" - I certainly hope that it is available to the general public, I can't imagine it being successful otherwise.
