Still Leaf shopping

I see they go for 6-7k on ebay. I'm looking for one for 1-4k. Non running is fine. Bad paint. A wrecked car that is still drivable.

My thinking was: If the price is closer to 4k; the battery will have needed to have already been swapped out or still in good condition. Or if closer to 1k; I was planning on putting a new battery in it. Are there any warranty situations that would help/cover it on an older model? I thought a few years back the battery price was only 3-4k? Now it's 8-9k?

Or maybe there is another EV that isn't on my radar that is a good deal? How is the parts situation for the iMiEV?

Keep waiting on Elon to offer up a Leaf killer or Leaf Blower model of the M3. Just give me the chassis, drivetrain, and a seat! Problem is as always with any cheap car; they don't make any(much) profit on them.

On the former, ALL 24 kWh Leafs (all '11 to '15) Leafs have 5 year/60K capacity warranty starting from original in-service date. '11 and '12 Leafs originally shipped with NO capacity warranty all but one eventually came out covering them (viewtopic.php?f=4&t=13192), partly due to a Klee class action lawsuit settlement. You must be down to 8 capacity bars or less before expiration.

My 5/2013 built '13 Leaf passed capacity warranty expiration in late June 2018. I'm still at 11 bars (lost 1st bar in Nov 2017).

There is also an 8 year/100K battery defects warranty but that does NOT cover gradual capacity loss. Complete replacement under this is extremely rare. I can't think of a single case of this. I've heard of a (TINY) few with a bad module getting that replaced.

NO, the HV battery was NEVER 3 to 4K. viewtopic.php?f=4&t=17168&p=374490 was the lowest official price.

Nissan was in some cases for a period of time helping people out on the cost shortly after the warranty expired. Some people had to fight it at first (e.g. via BBB arbitration) but eventually Nissan had a goodwill program. A few (emphasis on few) folks on MNL have paid full price to replace a degraded out of warranty battery.

Please answer the questions I asked you to answer at viewtopic.php?p=533188#p533188. Leaf even w/a replacement battery may be unsuitable for you.

"Non running is fine. Bad paint. A wrecked car that is still drivable." is a bit puzzling. You want a car that doesn't run or that does run? Keep in mind that per the warranty booklet, you basically have no warranty if the car has ever received a salvage title or been declared totaled. Hope you don't ever have any expensive failures either like a master cylinder (viewtopic.php?p=450851#p450851 viewtopic.php?p=511417#p511417) or failed on-board charger.
