SLO looks completely doable (Goleta and Santa Maria have charging stations).. I'm trying to get to San Jose from SLO (see my latest post). Let me know if anyone has done that journey.
THANKS..
I need to move my car from Ventura area in SoCal up to San Jose. I'm not gonna ship. I want to drive it ! Does anyone have any suggestions on charge stop locations ? Here is the route I am thinking:
1) Camarillo to Goleta Nissan (charge) 58. miles
2) Goleta to Nissan Santa Maria (66...
I happen to be driving in a shuttle at LAX from my flight to a parking lot and I noticed that terminal 6 appeared to have a good number of electric vehicle chargers there on the ground floor. From a few web searches, it looked like these chargers were not of the L1/L2 variety that we can use -...
Thanks for all of your comments. I use the Leaf mostly for around-town and short commutes. It's basically an "office on wheels". With the quietness of it and slow rate of electrical usage when I am parked (using low ac and hands-free), make it really nice for me to do conference calls in the...
Don't you mean the $100 Cheesesteak ? :-) Forgive me for that one, but I noticed your location says Philly and I used to live on 2601 Pennsylvania Ave many years go...
The charger has a little LCD display that tells you whether is is charging or not - and in this case the Volt wasn't charging (I looked) - but I was thinking after, maybe it WAS charging but stopped because it was full. then, I think the display reads something else "like Charge Complete" or...
I love joy riding...Isn't that partly why we have our cars ? Am I contributing to traffic ? PCH was empty all the way up and down and where I live is pretty devoid of traffic most of the time (except when farming equipment use the roads). I'm fortunate. Now if I can only get that reserved...

I'm very impressed with the handling of this car under normal driving conditions (no, I have not tracked it yet). I have a '91 Carrera 2, a Honda and just got rid of a well worn 99 Saab 9-3 which I loved - so the car is not without peers in my stable. (albeit, my cars tend to be OLD).
Is my...
I agree. In fact for some areas like Santa Barbara, a Leaf would fulfill even a larger percentage of driving needs.
The question this discussion prompts then is: Will evolution of battery technology win the race against charge infrastructure expansion. ? The 200 mile battery might satisfy...
Now if someone could just make a charging "adapter" to plug a Tesla or Volt on one side (output) and a Leaf on the other (input)...Maybe that would help ?
I agree in general, but there is a pretty big sign above the charge station area in the Santa Monica Place lot that reads "ELECTRIC VEHICLES ONLY". I certainly wouldn't want to get into a conflict with the driver directly, but I don't think it is too out of place to call the enforcement number...
