Yes "clean diesel" really is clean. (ACEEE.org)

"Clean" diesel is a joke. Numbers are numbers when the engine is tested on a bench, not in real life. In real life diesel -no matter how new they are- isn't even close to being clean. The clean diesel propaganda is nothing more than the result of powerfull lobbies.

    Official Renault Zoe thread

I am french an I've read the text in french. It does state what you've understood indeed. The quick charger is in the car, allowing refill station to becom much cheaper, costing as low as 3000 euros. What is not entirely clear though, is whether these 3000 euros stations allow a full 43kW...

Regen reduced when friction brakes are engaged

So under certain condition, regen indeed stops when friction brakes are engaged. My question would be : how often does that happen when driving "normally" on the highway, on a smaller road, in town etc. If this only occurs a few times in a month, I guess it's nothing much to be concerned...

Now using "D", not "eco" for safety

Can anyone confirm this ? It would be surprising. A Prius will maintain 100% regen while the disk brakes take the excess of braking required. So :?:

Ken Rockwell Photography Blog EV Rant

Some people's brain are beyond repair, sad but true. Trying to make him "get it", no matter how good you are at explaining facts, one little step at the time, is a waste because I assure you one thing : he won't. Some people are just like that... they don't get it and never will, ever.

Stuck at a stop light, guy behind me blaring his horn - CRAP

In the prius if you press the brake enough (a normal pressure to keep the car still), the electric motor doesn't try to creep, hense you're not wasting any energy. The creeping resumes as soon as the brake pedal pressure drops below a certain level, typically, when you're lifting you foot of the...

    What if carwings/google maps implemented...

...estimated kWh consumption on their maps data ? I have not yet seen this idea mentionned but I think it would be very usefull for all EV users. Technically, I believe it is very doable. Topographic datas can translate into an average m/kWh estimate for each type of vehicle. We can even...

How To "Break In" The Leaf?

I couldn't agree more. How to break-in a car is just one of the most full of speculation subject found on earth. Many "procedures" are completely baseless no matter how people try to make it look like the engine is going to like it. It seems people actually *need* a procedure to follow in order...

    8.9 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Japan

I know people living there close to Tokyo. Considering the magnitude, Tokyo is left in relatively good shape but it's been a long day for people there. Transports and many thing are shut down. It's been chaos trying to get home after work apparently. People are really shaken and still under...

Rolling in reverse (backing up slope)

Note that keeping the car still in a slope, no matter in which direction, by the mean of the electric motor (and not the mechanical brakes) is clearly stated in the manual as a "don't". It is awfully inefficient, obviously.

EVSE Installation, Info and Cost Comparison Thread

I think this whole "charging dock" installation thing is insane. First L2 charge needing a fixed "dock" vs. a transportable cable like for L1 charge is a joke. Second, the installation costs is an even bigger joke. How could you pay such a premium for very basic installation and piece of...

EVSE Installation, Info and Cost Comparison Thread

So in the US you guys will have a specific cable, supplied with the car, allowing a level I charge on 110V and if you want an 240V level II charge, you have to pay for an extra EVSE. Now : what is going to happen in Europe, where most of the countries are equipped with 240V only ? I can hardly...

EVSE Installation, Info and Cost Comparison Thread

Hi all, My understanding is that the Leaf has a built-in 240V charger for level 2 charge in approx 8 hours. Sorry if my question has been adressed but I couldn't find the answer to this : What does the "dock" actually do ? If these "chargers" basically just bring the 240V from the wall to...
