    End of Lease Strategies?

    I called today and they offered $3000 buyback incentive on a 2015, 24 month lease. This would have brought the purchase price down to $12000. Thanks but no thanks.

    GA pushing forward with EV

    If you have Diverse Power, you're out of luck. I called about a month ago asking about whether they had any discount programs, rebates, or planned future projects regarding EV owners. I'm going to paraphrase the response as, " :lol: pffft, no".

    Weird "boing" sound when driving forward after reversing

    The machine that going "boing" is kind of expensive. Nowhere near the cost of the machine that going "ping", though.

    Air Density (pressure) and Range

    Fun fact for the day: higher humidity results in lower air density. We've known this for hundreds of years but still seems counter intuitive to most folks.

    Flat Tow/Recreational tow

    If you only travel downhill, sure it's free. I regenerative braking efficiency is more than 30%, not sure how much, but that's efficiency of converting work your RV engine produced to begin with. So, for example, if your RV had to produce an extra 10kW to account for the extra force applied...

    Flat Tow/Recreational tow

    Because charging your vehicle by towing it is a big waste of energy due to regeneration inefficiency and inefficiency in towing. Better off to use a generator. I would only tow-charge if I absolutely had to. It's not free energy; it's like towing a car with the brakes lightly on. Fuel isn't...

    Groundhog in my LEAF

    If that thing had nine lives, she just spent 'em all.

    Flat Tow/Recreational tow

    Difference in being towed and coasting down a verrrryy long hill? From the cars perspective, nothing. It's a waste of gas and money, plus needlessly adds miles on your odometer, but there you have it.

    New Traction Motor Being Installed

    That's troubling as it sounds just like what my car does. Since they fixed it, I assume that it is not normal. Getting the car into the dealer will be troublesome for me.

    public parking frustration

    The $0.85/hour is what the hotels using Chargepoint are charging in Columbus, GA. That rate is for the first four hours; after that it's $10/hour. Therefore, you can charge for up to four hours before your wallet takes a pummeling.

    Need a recommendation for an EVSE

    Pick the EVSE you want that meets your maximum amperage and change your outlet. Outlets are cheap. If you get one that's meant to be hard wired, just attach a plug to your EVSE that fits your outlet.

    LF deal on Leaf S with or w/out QC in Atlanta, October 2014

    Jalopnik thinks the D will be an AWD model S. Jalopnik has a history of being accurate in this type of thing. http://jalopnik.com/this-has-to-be-confirmation-teslas-d-is-an-awd-model-s-1642042896" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

    Retrofitting LED headlights into 2014 leaf S?

    As also seen on the Juke... :roll: Those weren't added for aerodynamics but rather so that Juke owners can feel they're driving a unique car. Unique is a good word for it. A polite word.

    New Traction Motor Being Installed

    Hate that you've had to do deal with all this. Did your clicking sound appear like NasGoreList's video? I ask because I also notice a clicking sound, usually when starting to drive and sometimes when stopping. It's usually just a single click. Seems odd.

    public parking frustration

    I think you're on point in this line of thinking. If I had a vehicle with 200 mile range, I'd never have to charge away from home (even taking into effect battery degradation and temperature effects) except when I want to travel 250 miles to visit my parents. As with most things in life, we...

    What's Holding Back Electric Car Sales?

    I make parts for the P&W geared turbofan, among others. 10-15% more fuel efficient than current turbofans. It's pretty spectacular. As good as current turbofans are, they're about to get a lot better. GE is also working on an engine with similar fuel efficiency savings...

    public parking frustration

    Blink? Hah. If they're not all down, it's a mere $0.40-$0.70/kWh or $0.04/min ($2.40/hour). If that's the future, might as well have just bought a Versa or a hybrid. Chargepoint is where it's at, $0.85/hour at most places I've been to or free. Ecotality should have died. If Blink is...

    What's Holding Back Electric Car Sales?

    I think most people could accept 150 mile range if that was worst case and there were plenty of options for recharging. A 150 range vehicle, today, would fit most people and they can just charge at home. However, then winter hits and you can only go 90 miles. That's only 10 miles more than my...

    What's Holding Back Electric Car Sales?

    I can vouch for a lack of knowledge about incentives. I had no idea the GA $5000 tax credit existed until some folks on Jalopnik mentioned it the comments to an article about the best new car deals available. A further reason is lack of infrastructure, which the WSJ article failed to...

    Scary reduced brake power / pedal feel

    It wasn't a problem with your English, only that chassis connections could mean a few different things. Should someone (especially me) have this problem in the future, a search should reveal this thread and your possible solution! Your English is much better than my Dutch (which I got to...
