    Rip-Off charging stations

Transportation is 2/3 of oil used. Gasoline is 2/3 of transportation. Rest is mostly diesel and jet. ftp://ftp.eia.doe.gov/pub/oil_gas/petroleum/analysis_publications/oil_market_basics/demand_text.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Though what this has to do with overpriced...

    Rip-Off charging stations

It's a very California based perspective. In most places when you increase your volume of electricity usage as a commercial customer you can get even lower prices not increases. In Houston commercial rates are about 7cents but large users can get as low as 5.5 cents. So adding charging in these...

    Rip-Off charging stations

I hear ya! I stopped into the Whole Foods and there were two Leafs parked there (both with temporary dealer plates so cut 'em some slack since they are new at this) but only one was even plugged in. The parking spots are NOT there to show off your car or keep you from walking as far. They are...

    Rip-Off charging stations

I think these L2 Coulomb stations are a total waste and they will drive up the cost electric driving for only mediocre benefit. I can see why you would buy a DC fast charge, but instead of ridiculously priced L2 stations, business owners are better off just paying a local electrician to run a...

    Rip-Off charging stations

Hi All! Over at the Volt site we are starting to see an increasing number of once free charging stations (especially from Charge Point) beginning to have hourly fees of $2 - $3/hour and a max of $48 or more per day! Most are in addition to the parking fee for the garage etc. Needless to say, in...

    Leafs Over Texas!

Hi All, Was driving past the Westfield car depot this evening (in Houston off Hardy Toll Road) and saw what looked like a new Red Leaf just off the train and waiting for a transport truck. So hopefully someone's car is showing up in a few days. Thought you could pass along to whoever is...

    Volt vs Leaf lease

I understand your point but we live in TX not CA. Our price on the car was $34,730 plus TTL (tax in TX is 6.25%) plus destination and handling. We had ordered the SL with QC and the floor mats. So after the tax rebate we would have spent just over $30k for the car.

    Why We cancelled our Leaf

We ordered the AV pretty early in the process, back when we thought we would have crash data, before anyone had gotten their cars, and before we had driven one. So AV was the beginning of our falling out (but a pretty HUGE source of frustration).

    Why We cancelled our Leaf

I know this will provoke an emotional response from some people. Please be kind! This is only one family’s experience and opinion… Let me begin by noting that we are fans of the Leaf. We have two Prius hybrids with over 100k miles on each and a few years ago we resolved to buy...

No NHTSA Crash Test for Leaf this year

I did look at the Sentra. It has 3 star front, 3 star side, and 4 star rollover with 4 star overall (the Versa Hatchback is 3* front, 2* side, 4* rollover, 2* overall). I do not know if the comparisons have any validity, but it is all we've got at the moment. I thought folks here would like to...

No NHTSA Crash Test for Leaf this year

The only thing it has to do with it is that both are made by the same manufacturer, are similar in dimensions (Leaf is 0.5 inches taller, 3 inches wider, and six inches longer), have the same safety features listed by the manufacturer, and I have no other information. Maybe this is not a cause...

No NHTSA Crash Test for Leaf this year

Like many of you I have been waiting for some results on the Leaf crash test from NHTSA and the IIHS. I asked Nissan (at the drive event and via the Leaf "hotline") when we should expect something. I got the following not very helpful email from Nissan: "Thank you for your question. Vehicle...

    Leafs Over Texas!

Had not seen that either. Like you, when I did my research middle of last year I only found this on the West Coast. Given the long delivery times, would definitely wait. Let us know how it goes!

What I've found about the car so far

Gudy, great review. Thank you for taking time to pass along the real-world info. How are you finding the interior? Seat comfort on your commute, the head room for taller people, etc.?

    ESEV Energy Monitor

I hear ya. And for the record and most emphatically, I regret buying the AV ESEV. Buyer beware. Thank you to everyone for the TED info. I will probably go with the 1000 as that seems like a better fit for what I want. The ESEV is on a totally separate 100 AMP panel in the garage while the rest...

    ESEV Energy Monitor

I may not be following, but doesn't TED do a whole house measurement? I already have that. I am looking for something that meters up just the ESEV so I can tell what additional load is coming from the car. Or is there a way to do that with TED? Sorry if I am being dense :D

    ESEV Energy Monitor

Looking for some ideas. Now that we have our POJ AeroVironment ESEV installed, I am trying to figure out some solution for tracking how much electricity the car consumes each month. Does anyone know if the car itself will track that info? If not, has anyone come across a reasonable kill-a-watt...

The official "I actually have a new EVSE installed" thread

Sorry for delay. The $1,700 was originally $1,800 but they offered up a discount (I believe mostly as a result of the outcry from this forum about AV installation pricing!).

The official "I actually have a new EVSE installed" thread

Yes, scheduled through the dashboard. I think Houston is a 1a market (notsure what that means but I think that is why). But the AV guy said he just did an assessment in Dallas yesterday so I would call the customer number and asked to be put through to AV. If you really want one of these...

The official "I actually have a new EVSE installed" thread

Indeed the cord keeper is a plastic hook (willing to bet it breaks in a year or less!). Ludicrous! BTW it took all of one guy around 90 minutes to install. I certainly do not feel like I got much for the $900 installation fee. They are coming back to "train" us on this (I mean, really? Somehow...
