    1 year service

I'm about to celebrate my one year LEAF anniversary, so I'm due for the one year service. My closest NISSAN dealer is Boardwalk Nissan in RWC. I know I need to have the battery checked (which is supposed to be free of charge), is there anything else that the Nissan dealer needs to do, or can I...

    First unexplained charge failure

This morning (thankfully a Saturday) I unplugged my charge cord and headed off for some errands when, 5 minutes after I left, I noticed that the car had only 4 bars -- same as last night when I plugged it in. I've owned my LEAF since March, and I plug it in every night using a 80% timer...

CO2: My Prius vs My LEAF

My 2003 Prius averages 40m/Gallon -> burning 1G of Gasoline emits 19.4 lbs of CO2 My 2011 LEAF averages 3.8 m/kwh -> 40m require 10.5 kwh -> 5.51 lbs of CO2 These calculations leave aside the CO2 emitted in the production/transportation and refinement of Gasoline. Also, my LEAF is actually...

    EV Reserved Parking Spots violators

In just a long weekend, every time I visited a garage with designated EV charging parking spaces (once in San Jose and twice in Redwood City) I saw the EV reserved spots being abused. In San Jose, a Mercedes driver must have thought that EV stands for "Expensive Vehicle". In Redwood City, both...

    Public chargers hourly charge

My company is planning to install some L2 for employee charging. The guy in charge of the project told me that they are planning to charge FIVE DOLLARS per Hour -- he claims that is the operational neutral price (i.e. not recouping initial capital expenses). Obviously this price is outrageously...

    CA DMV's cruel irony

I've been waiting for my HOV sticker for a while now (got the car on 3/12). This Friday I got a letter from the DMV, and sure enough it was about the HOV sticker... my Prius' HOV sticker and how it will expire in July.

    My experience with NorthBay Nissan

This month I leased my LEAF from NorthBay Nissan and I want to share my experience as a thank you to Ron Coury & his dealership. First of all, throughout the long wait from September (when I agreed on the price) to March (when I finally got it) Ron has been always very responsive both via email...

    Confusing email

I received an email from Nissan today: Nissan LEAF: Delivery timing update Hi Fabio, the estimated delivery date for your Nissan LEAF™ has been updated. Sign in to "my account" to see when your vehicle is now expected to arrive at your Nissan Dealer. ----- So I signed in but the timing had...

    PG&E Rates w/ solar & ev

I've just installed a 4.3kW Solar Panel system and will (Nissan willing) get a LEAF next moth, so I have 2 applications pending w/ PG&E (solar and EV). I have been contacted by a PG&E guy who said that I cannot use the E9 w/ solar, since they will not credit me back the extra production. The...

    208 vs. 240 V

I've received the AV charger and I see this jumper to set 208 V input. What difference does it actually make? Can one unit still function if one were (hypothetically speaking) to cut that jumper and connect to a regular 240 @ 30A circuit?

    Feb to March ?!?

Today I got a nasty surprise, my delivery date has been moved from "Month of February 2011" to "Month of March 2011". I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that I cancelled my inspection and decided to order an EVSE directly. In any case, this confirms my superstition about Friday...

Early September -- check your status

I'm a Sep 2 order and about a week ago my dashboard was changed to enable me to change color (which I did, from Silver to Red). Today the option is gone -- I guess I'm a step closer to my LEAF!

    Wired LEAF

In next month's Wired Magazine, the main feature is an interview with Elon Musk, Tesla CEO. As part of that feature, 4 EVs are reviewed: the Tesla Roadster, the LEAF, the Coda and the Volt. The LEAF gets the editor choice.
