Noticed random chime while turned off

Could it be the 'charge sound' coming from the VSP speaker, if you've selected timed charging?

Has anyone "run out of electricity" yet?

I know no more than was given in the article. I just thought that you might like to be aware of a potential development which might, in the first instance, provide an emergency supply if you run out of battery charge. As both Michael & Gary have implied, there are many unknowns about the...

Has anyone "run out of electricity" yet?

Well, if you are getting low, could this be the answer? http://www.thegreencarwebsite.co.uk/blog/index.php/2011/02/17/hydrogen-range-extender-could-double-drive-time-of-evs/ If the idea comes to fruition and the LEAF can be adapted to accommodate it, wouldn't it be great to be able to just top...

Nissan Leaf Deliveries : 19 in Dec to 87 in Jan ...........

If it's of interest to you, 67 LEAF's were delivered to the UK (Tyne) by 'The City of St. Petersburg' today - a brand new Nissan ship on its maiden voyage. I understand that this ship will be used for UK & European deliveries.

    Charging via 13amp

Here is the answer given on the UK Nissan LEAF FAQ page to that question: 'LEAF can be charged from a standard 13 amp house socket (using the supplied cable assembly). At this rate it takes 10 hours to charge from empty to full. Nissan recommends you get a home charging box installed - which is...

Will you cancel your purchase without a capacity warranty?

At least in the USA you are being offered an 8 year warranty, in the UK it appears that we are only going to be given a 5 year warranty - with all the same vague conditions! Regards Bob.

Questions we still have about Nissan Leaf

http://www.flickr.com/photos/ghweather/5048450684/in/set-72157624962936987/ Yes that looks like a towing eye bolt! Regards Bob

Questions we still have about Nissan Leaf

I haven't seen the supplied tools but your description of the third tool sounds like a towing eye bolt, which is normally supplied with Nissan cars. If so, this would suggest that the LEAF CAN be towed! Regards Bob

Questions we still have about Nissan Leaf

Questions: If the car needs to be towed (assuming it can be towed), how should the car 'settings' be configured? a) Does the car need to be switched on? Presumably yes to disengage the electric brake. b) Should neutral or drive be selected? c) When being towed, will regenerative charging occur...

Nissan's included UK-13A "EVSE" (for UK)

I've made some enquiries locally in UK and so far have been unable to get any info on the replacement cost (stolen or otherwise!!) of the L2 portable EVSE supplied with the UK LEAF. The LEAF is not due in the UK until March 2011, so info here is difficult to get. As soon as I get details of this...

The Possibility of Charging the Battery from a Portable Gen.

Yes, you could be right, unfortunately. I guess only time..... and a few brave experimenters will find out! Regards Bob

The Possibility of Charging the Battery from a Portable Gen.

The quote from Nissan given at the start of this thread: 'Any supply variation using a generator could cause unknown concerns resulting in damage to the vehicle and/or the generator and might invalidate the vehicle’s warranty', would suggest that Nissan have probably investigated using a low...

Nissan's included UK-13A "EVSE" (for UK)

Yes, I would agree with that. There has to be some device in-built in the cable assembly to identify that it is the UK equivalent of the L1 coupled to the common LEAF input socket rather than a UK 'L2' connection. Regards Bob.

Nissan's included UK-13A "EVSE" (for UK)

I have absolutely no idea how much it would cost to replace. If it was stolen once, I'd claim for its replacement under my house insurance! If it was stolen 12 times - I'd probably arrange for some wholesale trade discount......or move to a safer neighbourhood! Regards Bob

Nissan's included UK-13A "EVSE" (for UK)

As far as I know, UK Nissan do not use the terms 'EVSE', 'L1' or 'L2'. The UK Leaf will have, as part of the vehicle & included in the price, a bag containing a cable assembly (similar to your L1, but operating at 230V 13A) which can be plugged into ANY normal UK 3-pin 230V 13A socket. From...

Nissan's included UK-13A "EVSE" (for UK)

Nissan UK do not use the nomenclature 'L1' or 'L2' to describe the types of charging, simply refer to the 2 options for charging, hence some of the confusion! The first option is the cable connection which comes FREE with the car and which will plug into a UK's normal 230V 13A mains supply...

Nissan's included UK-13A "EVSE" (for UK)

Hi Gary. Well, it's possible that you may not get too many replies, because I don't think many people will be buying L2 EVSE's in the UK. The reason? As stated in a different thread, the standard UK mains supply socket is 240V providing a maximum current of 13A. This will enable the LEAF to be...

The Possibility of Charging the Battery from a Portable Gen.

I haven't seen this subject raised in the forum, so this might be of interest to you. I raised the subject of using a 700W portable generator to top up the LEAF battery in an emergency situation and this is the response I received from Nissan UK: 'We are not able to comment on the use of a...
