    Seriously considering a 2013 Model S - What Should I Know?

Greetings - I leased a 2013 Leaf years ago and returned it after the 2 year lease expired. At the time I had the quick charge option, which was useful. I didn't have any significant issues with the car I did have some minor issues (charging problems - electronics), all covered under warranty...

Why I Didn't Buy another Leaf

In an earlier post I noted that my two month old Leaf was totaled in a flood. I'm awaiting the insurance settlement, which seemed fair, but have decided against getting another Leaf. My reasons are many. To begin, I've owned two Prius cars each of which gave me good problem free service. The...

My Leaf Drowned in a Flood

The car was leased, and that's still being argued by the insurance company and Nissan. The insurance company wants to deduct the amount of the tax credit from the claim. Nissan wants full payment. On top of that there's the question of whether or not I can qualify for a second tax credit on a...

My Leaf Drowned in a Flood

Last weekend my two month old Leaf was flooded during a freak rain storm that dropped 5.5 inches of rain in less than an hour. We were shopping and came out to find the car standing in the middle of a flood. The water reached a bit less than mid door height, front wheels fully submerged, rear...

Leaf is Totally Dead - No warning. Resolved see page 3

Got a call from the tech who worked on the car. He didn't test the main battery health, but said he did check the 12V charging system and it was working as intended. He didn't anticipate any other problems. So I'll just move ahead with the new 12V battery and see if anything else pops up.

Leaf is Totally Dead - No warning. Resolved see page 3

Picked up car from dealer. The 12v battery was replaced under warranty (0 CCA reading - that's really dead!). I asked what caused it and he had no answers. "When the battery fully discharged all codes were erased. When we put in the new battery the system reset itself." I accepted the...

Leaf is Totally Dead - No warning. Resolved see page 3

Dealer said 12v battery was defective; being replaced under warranty. I'll have more info when I pick up the car later today.

Leaf is Totally Dead - No warning. Resolved see page 3

Tow truck arrived - put charger on 12 volt battery and that seemed to work to get the car in neutral for towing. At dealer now. Getting a loaner. Could've left it in ACC, but car appeared fully off when I locked it for night. Will know more later today, but traction battery appeared...

Leaf is Totally Dead - No warning. Resolved see page 3

I got ready to leave for work and the car was totally dead. Couldn't get anything to work, even the dash was dark. Couldn't open the front charging port. Car is 6 weeks old with 1200 miles. VERY FRUSTRATING. Called dealer, he said to call Nissan Roadside assistance. Waiting for flatbed...

Will your next EV be a Leaf or another brand - why?

Again, thanks to all for the comments and suggestions. I continue to learn a lot - much appreciated. I am a bit surprised that there have been so few comments about the upcoming BMW i3. That car supposedly will recharge much faster than others and according to at least one in depth review I...

Will your next EV be a Leaf or another brand - why?

Thanks to all for the comments - they are very helpful. Despite my very recent purchase of the Leaf I didn't "cross shop" the market and have questioned my Leaf purchase. For me, given the very attractive lease prices the Leaf was my "best" choice. I had placed an early deposit on the 40KW...

Will your next EV be a Leaf or another brand - why?

I'm still pretty new to EV cars, just completing one month of ownership. The Leaf appealed to me when it was first announced and I put a deposit down. Eventually I canceled my reservation growing tired or waiting and not having my questions answered. I also was concerned with the 3.3KW...

Should I Install a Home Level 2 Charger? Need Your HELP!

Thanks for the additional comments and suggestions. I'm still considering the "best" solution, but a few things are becoming more clear: (1) Upgrading to a faster charger IS important if I want to expand the Leaf into a more than commuter usage pattern, (2) trying to save some money on the...

Is there a version of this app that runs on the iPhone? I can't find anything similar so far.

2013 SV lease in PA, LED and premium packages - good deal?

Glad it worked out. Can you clarify the deal for me? Are you paying $289 a month for 24 months with $1,000 down (total of $7,936), AND getting a $7,500 tax credit IN ADDITION to the lease terms? That would make your net lease cost $436! I assume your lease terms reflect the tax credit...

Should I Install a Home Level 2 Charger? Need Your HELP!

Thanks for the suggestions. The difference in price from a 30 AMP to 40 AMP service is not very much. The circuit breaker cost difference is minimal, the difference in 8-3 versus 6-3 cable is $3 or so a foot extra. So for the extra $120 or so I'd rather have 40 AMP service fully wired than 30...

Should I Install a Home Level 2 Charger? Need Your HELP!

Greetings - Thanks to all for the help on this forum. I'm entering my 4th week of Leaf ownership on a two year 12,000 mile a year lease. I would like your opinion about Level 2 charging. I typically drive less than a 20 mile round trip to work, and another 10 miles during lunch. At lunch I...

My Leaf Experience after owning two Prius cars

I originally bought a 2007 Prius Touring edition - loved the combination of features, especially the brighter headlights and modestly improve handling. I drove it for nearly 25K miles over two years, not a single problem. Wonderful car, met my expectations fully. Sold it in 2009 when gas prices...
