DarthPuppy said:...Looking at the pictures, I like it. I do find the grille to be funny for an EV, but when it comes down to it, people like large grilles. I guess they think it looks more powerful. MB has really pushed the large grille concept lately - I like the look of my new CLA, though the 2 liter 4 cylinder in it clearly hardly uses it. They even put shiny points into it to draw more attention to the grille.
That 186 miles comes from earlier articles quoting Andy Palmer where he says 300 kms is needed to compete with upcoming FCEV vehicles. Since it is also close to 150 EPA miles a survey talked about in Jan, I think it has quite a bit of credibility.mkjayakumar said:I don't trust this article one bit. If Nissan can give a true 100 miles, aka 120 EPA miles Leaf that will be great
Inductive charging. (Just a guess)Devin said:I wonder where they moved the charge ports.
Behind the fake grill ? Plunging V can be lifted up revealing charging ports.Devin said:I wonder where they moved the charge ports.
Why would folks wana pay more for less (efficiency) ??ElectricEddy said:Inductive charging. (Just a guess)Devin said:I wonder where they moved the charge ports.
For the same reason that people are willing to pay more for most any labor-saving device, even though they cost more and are less efficient than doing it manually. If you use a power lawnmower instead of a push mower, have devices controlled by remotes so you don't have to walk a few steps or get out of your car, or use a cell phone instead of a landline, you know what convenience is worth to you. The extra cost/lower efficiency of inductive charging is minimal compared to the cost of buying gas, not to mention the cost of being late for work because you forgot to plug the car in the day before. And then there are the security, reliability, safety and liability benefits of public inductive EVSEs, which are even greater than for personal ones.hill said:Why would folks wana pay more for less (efficiency) ?? Inductive = loss .... and greater expense. For now, it's just a gimmick.ElectricEddy said:Inductive charging. (Just a guess)Devin said:I wonder where they moved the charge ports.
BoulderLeaf said:I'm starting to get a little apprehensive about not hearing any recent news about LEAF 2.0. For a while, we were getting little hints and snippets about upcoming potential Gen 1 MY's and Gen 2.0. But now, after the exec shake up and news about battery sourcing, we aren't hearing anything.I understand that they don't want to dampen sales of 2015/2016 (Gen 2 is 2017, right?), but I would very much like to have something hinted at.
