Fontana Nissan made all the arrangements with the shipping company, and then the shipper contacted me
That's interesting. Sounds like the shipping contract is between Fontana and the shipper, not between the shipper and I. Fontana is mailing me the paperwork. If it says anything remotely near "not responsible for shipping damage" I'm out.

The 2012 SL is MSRP - $2,000 + $1100 shipping + $55 doc fee + $7 tire fee = $38,142. Unfortunately the car comes with lots of profit options: splash guards, hologram kick plates, cargo organizer, rear bumper protector, flux capacitor, floor and cargo mats.

That's less than the local dealers, and no Nissan sign-up "wait and see" or dealership viper pit hassle.

I did some research on the Florida fees, and here's what I got from vinquote dot com:

New vehicle title: $77.25
Resident mailing: $2.50
New metal plate: $28
FL Sales tax (6%): $2288.52
Orange County sales tax (.5%): $190.71
Registration: $70.65
Initial registration: $225
Total tax and tags: $2882.63

Wish me luck!

Looks close to what I paid. I got a bit of a break, because Broward County doesn't have a sales tax, and I was doing a registration and tag transfer, so I didn't have to pay the initial registration fee or a fee for the plates.

Hey Florida Leafers: Will there be any other members of the 200 KM club at our meeting tomorrow?
Congrats, Roy! You're our long range specialist. :)
Indeed Roy holds the world record for distance on a single charge according to this forum! I have not been keeping track of my mileage per charge. I have only gone into LB mode twice as my routine has been to recharge when I get down to 2 bars. I am sure I can break into the 100 Mile club if I drive in Eco mode and keep my speed down. The 200KM club is not inconceivable as there are several routes to my office that do not involve freeway driving.

Achieved 100 miles on a single charge over the last 4 days. Average Energy Economy 5.6 m/Kwh

Great job Brain Donor. Post your results on the thread called: 100 Mile Club and 200 KM Club (ACTUALLY DROVE UNREFUELED) to get on the list of those who broke the threshold.
It's actually spike who is following in your footsteps! Agreed, he should post his results to the other thread...

After our meeting at Delray Beach recently, some of our members visited the City of West Palm Beach parking garage on Clematis Street and reported that the chargers there require a Chargepoint membership card. Today I checked into that and learned that the garage has 6 Level 2 chargers that are free with a Chargepoint registration and card, but you need to pay for parking while using them. I signed up for Chargepoint and will soon do a trial run from Miami to West Palm and back with a charge at the garage.

Thanks for the update Roy! I guess I'll get a Charge point card myself too, just in case I need to go downtown. Can you do that online, or call an 800 number?

if you need just to try (do not think that will use chargepoint often) you can call them and they will activate evse for you

So, reading the fine print, it appears that to get a card you have to allow them to put a minimum of $25 on it, even though the stations you use are free, right? I guess that's not too bad, to keep in the glove box for emergencies.

I paid $4.95 for mine. It will only allow access to the free chargers.

I put money on my card because, in addition to the 6 free chargers in the Clematis garage, there are a total of 22 Level 2 Chargepoint chargers at 11 locations within a 100 mile radius of West Palm Beach (from Palm Bay to the north down to Brickell Avenue in Miami). Some are free, but most of them cost $2.49 per hour, and I want to be in a position to go anywhere within that range

Upcoming events...

GCEAA mtg on Saturday 2/11 @ 10am - I will be there
Car show at home depot - this Friday? I guess I could go although next Friday is probably better. Is anyone else going?

Interesting that they are now $2.49 per hour instead of the original $3.00 per hour....still ridiculously high in my opinion.

I didn't put money on my card. (Of course, I haven't left Dade county with my car yet either.) When I do head up to Broward, there is a free charger at the Publix near my Mom's house and there is a Nissan dealer by my sister's, so I figured why pay for charging when I have these options?

I am not available on Friday. Where is the GCEAA event being held? Same place?
