A portable, removable battery that would fit in the bottom of
trunk, with a place to plug it in. Could use it when another
10 - 20 miles (?) of range is needed. Remove it otherwise to
reduce the weight.
I have an infrequent commute that is now out of range -- but another 10 - 20 miles
of range would get me there.
Also, if the battery died before you got home, could have your spouse bring
the portable battery to get you to a charging station or home.
Also, has anyone brought up the idea of a small, portable gas powered generator
for use on long trips? Might be useful, for example, on a camping trip to recharge
for the trip home.
