Hi,

The May US number looks 1142, instead of 1141.
http://www.nissannews.com/pressrelease/2541/1/nissan-north-america-reports-may-sales

The JP numbers are...
DEC-10 19
JAN-11 962
FEB-11 2593
MAR-11 846
APR-11 not known yet
MAY-11 not known yet

Yoshi@Japan

Then that would be 6,565 for LEAF. Including EU deliveries it might be over 7,000 LEAFs on the road now!?!

Thanks. Where did you get the numbers for Japan - does Nissan or someone publish them monthly ?

That 19 looks suspiciously like the US number.Just coincidence ?

The FEB number was only one confirmed from the JADA published document.
The other numbers are not official, but I've seen many places on the JP forum.

That May number should have been at least 1143 if the cars had been delivered in the RIGHT order.

Thanks - I'll use the Dec & Mar numbers. January number I got from a news organization, so will leave it untouched for the time being.

I know Nissan used to give a detailed production & sales breakup worldwide after their annual financial results. So, may be within the next month we will have that detailed report, which can confirm some of these numbers.

Some media reported the JP JAN-11 number was 962 units based on JADA documents.

Cool - now I can update the number. Thx.

Once more a reporter confuses the concepts of "supply" and "demand" with a story on Nissan cutting their first year sales target for the US from 20k to 10-12k. http://rumors.automobilemag.com/sales-goals-nissan-leaf-cut-half-50863.html
The final production Leaf may not be appealing to prospective buyers, and it’s also possible that consumers are intimidated or are unable to install the required charging station in their home. Then there’s the limited (but growing) network of public charging stations where owners can plug in away from home; additionally, Nissan halted production for a few weeks following complications from the March 11 disaster in Japan.

JADA has put out its JP numbers. No Leaf - which means less than 1,150.

Overall, auto sales in Japan fell 37% compared to last year. Lowest since 1968.

So, the JP MAY-11 number is not known yet.

The JP APR-11 number was 177 units.

The number was published as monthly statistics on the JP Car Graphics magazine based on the JADA documents.
I also confirmed the number on the magazine.

The JP MAY-11 number will be available on the next Car Graphics magazine issue date, July 1st.

"From late this year, customers in Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Alabama will also be able order the Leaf, the company said yesterday"

Looks like seven more states will be able to place orders by year end :)

http://green.autoblog.com/2011/06/14/report-nissan-leaf-sales-hit-7-550-quake-related-delays-loom/

Hideaki Watanabe, Nissan's vice-president of zero-emissions vehicles, said yesterday that worldwide sales of the Leaf have topped 7,550 units. That impressive number includes Leafs sold in the U.S., Japan, Hong Kong and a handful of European countries.

So, we are missing about 700 - that includes May JP number and Europe & Hong Kong.

More Leafs coming to US this month (June), hope more people will get their Leaf soon :)

Nissan aims to become world’s largest seller of electric vehicles
By Andrew, 16 Jun, 2011. 0 Comments

2011 Nissan Leaf
The delivery this month of Nissan Motor Co.’s Leaf battery cars to U.S. customers will be at a record high as the carmaker boosts production and finds ways to solve customer delays. Last Monday, Carlos Ghosn, CEO of Nissan, told reporters that it will deliver 1,500 cars in June. Ghosn, who is also the chief of Renault, said that this will help slightly to “restart the enthusiasm."

He said that customers waited longer than was expected when Nissan opened the order books in April 2010, according to Autonews. Leaf sales averaged just 113 a month in the first four months of U.S. deliveries but it has been increasing since April and has reached 1,142 in May. The disaster in Japan had resulted to its output dropping as it had to repair the damage in its parts factories and as it dealt with power shortages. It’s possible that the U.S. production of Leaf and its batteries will be put off.

Nissan has invested approximately $6 billion in electric-car technology and production. Hideaki Watanabe, Nissan's vice president of zero-emission vehicles, said that the opening of its battery production line in Smyrna, Tenn. is scheduled to open in September 2012 but this may also be delayed. The production of the Leaf was supposed to start in the Smyrna plant by December. Nissan aims to be the largest seller of electric vehicles worldwide.

The JP MAY-11 number was 472 units on a magazine from the JADA documents.
http://yuzuru.2ch.net/test/read.cgi/auto/1306733489/392
I also confirmed the number on the magazine.
