mkjayakumar: FYI, this is MO and KS (2 of us are in MO). I can appreciate that you don't know this market (it's been very frustrating). On the other hand, I can't see how slow trickle charging on L1 is efficient, considering how long it takes to sufficiently charge up. I do, however, think Ingineer's cost-effective upgraded EVSE would be useful if it works well for L1, L2 and QC charging without incident. It's too late for me, though. I already got an AV EVSE from an eBay seller who orphaned a LEAF and Eric installed his EVSE last year. Might be a good option for Tom!

FINALLY this is news in KC! :D :D :!: :!: Page 1 of FYI section C. My excitement has returned after this very long wait. The EVSE is installed and live - just need to figure out a place to post pics and add a link. :)

Tom, get what excites you if you find it and just can't wait any longer. :D. I'm waiting for my red SL (love love love it)...only a matter of days now (let's hope)!

Kathy - You can post images by using the site http://www.postimage.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; There is nothing to sign up for, and it's self explanatory. Thanks for posting the link to the KC Star article. You beat me too it. Someone at the bank yesterday mentioned it, and it was a good read. The KC servers are being weird though. Neither my link or yours appears to be working now.

I got a phone call from the dealership yesterday. They have received the invoice which means my LEAF is now only 1-2 days away. After the LEAF arrives, they indicated that they will need about a day for their master mechanic to get it ready. I suspect I'll have my LEAF on Tuesday. Kathy - This might mean that your LEAF has arrived also?

Tom - The two LEAF's at McCarthy you mentioned. Are you sure they are available? I suspect one is the demo and the other one is probably a reservation coming in for another customer. Since you have been working with them, you certainly know more about it than I. I would imagine though, being a computer person, that the website shows actual inventory, including inventory that is dual purposed or reserved. Excluding such inventory in a reliable fashion would be prohibitively difficult to maintain.

Kathy - Congrats on getting your charging station and electrical work out of the way. My station has been showing a green (I'm ready and lonely) light since the first of August .... poor station.

I found another link for the KC Star article.

Eric, thanks for the link. I can't get the picture site to work for me from my iPad or my iPhone. The Browse field is either grayed out or doesn't respond, whichever device I use. I have pics stored on both devices. Oh well, maybe later this weekend I'll try it from my laptop.

I think the KC Star got a couple of facts wrong in the article. I had read where the VSP turned on at a lower mph than they quoted, plus they said you could turn it off (not so any more). They didn't really promote the LEAF as well as they could've.

Lucky you, getting the car in a couple days, YAY! Your charger won't be lonely much longer! I think you ordered a bit before me, didn't you? As of Friday, my delivery date was still week of June 4th. I ordered March 12. My halo would have to be on perfectly straight for me to get mine when you get yours. Please post a pic when you get it or when out in the wild! Walgreens is really wanting someone to use their charge station! :)

The website http://www.postimage.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; will only work on devices that have a common file store. iOS devices like the iPad and iPhone do not have this capability, so one cannot upload pictures from them. Your laptop will work though.

I'm a huge Apple person and love my iPad and iPhone. I almost always have both of them with me. There are a few LEAF related apps you might be interested in:

Nissan LEAF (Official Program) [iPhone] - http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/nissan-leaf/id407814405?mt=8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - Lets you interrogate and control your LEAF from your iPhone.

PlugShare [iPhone] - http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/plugshare/id421788217?mt=8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - This program aggregates charging station locations from various charge networks and user input into one place. It's a great tool to see where charging stations are and what their status is. It covers the two major charging networks in KC, ChargePoint and SemaConnect (Walgreens).

ChargePoint [iPad & iPhone] - http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/chargepoint/id356866743?mt=8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - This is ChargePoint's official application for accessing their network. It gives locations and statuses of stations, enables one to place reservations (I'm not aware of any reservable stations in KC yet), helps finding your vehicle, checks charging status, views your account, and let's you access a station and start a charge without a RFID card, etc.

SemaConnect [iPhone] - http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/semaconnect-chargepro-charging/id471861561?mt=8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - This program locates stations (All SemaConnect stations in KC are at Walgreens presently), view charging status, and access account information, etc.

Nissan LEAF [iPad] - http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/nissan-leaf/id422890310?mt=8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - A cool program from the UK that works kind of like an online brochure for the LEAF.

Leaf Energy [iPad & iPhone] - http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/leaf-energy/id517173149?mt=8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - An interesting program that helps you determine, based on a variety of criteria, what your LEAF range is.

GreenCharge [iPhone] - http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/greencharge/id480215136?mt=8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - I have not downloaded this app, but it was mentioned in a blog entry a while back. Supposedly, it allows you to connect with your LEAF and gives you info such as CO2 avoidance. Providing some 3rd party with access to my LEAF via CarWings is kinda creepy though, so I have no plans on installing it. It is a cool idea though.

Eric, thanks so much for all the helpful links and information! I have Pugshare, Chargepoint (have an RFID card) and NissanLEAF installed on my iPhone, plus one I'd found recently called CarStations. I'll definitely add SemaConnect and LEAF Energy to my iPhone and will check out the attributes of GreenCharge today.

I uploaded the pics of my old & new service and my installed EVSE to the link below (hope it's accessible - they may be a little blurry; snapped them on my iPhone):

KCPL is coming today to approve the new exterior service lines & box (they're making me move my power line & meter away from my deck, electrician included this in my upgrade). There's now a (ghastly looking  , will paint it!) metal tube (appx. 6'-7' tall, appx. 4"-6" diameter) attached to the back of my house, with an empty meter box at the bottom (big wire coming out the center hole, connecting to the old meter still hanging off the wall - pretty  ) and 3 fat wires hanging out of the curved elbow at the top. Once approved, they'll place a new meter into the box, pull the old one off, move the line over & hook up power/go live (fingers crossed). Also had to build up the grade to ensure a meter reader's face will reach the center of the meter in its new location (geez  ). My dirt & stepping stones solution is kinda cruddy, but temporary (to be vastly improved & aesthetically enhanced this weekend). BUT, my charging dock looks so nice (an now it's getting lonely...)!

Any more new on your LEAF delivery?

I'm buying. I'd like to wait for the 2013 for leather/different heater (but at what extra cost and could I afford that??), but Mom wants her car back. I could lease short-term (2 years?)then upgrade later, but it's more than I want to spend/invest over the long term. Hey, it's only money, right? If only I could find a funding source...(I'm one of the po' folks on this forum).

My LEAF page shows: Week of May 29th. The dealership received an invoice on Friday, but my LEAF still hasn't been delivered yet. I'm still waiting.

Kathy - Congrats on getting your charging station installed. Maybe our LEAFs will be delivered early tomorrow, and we'll both have our cars tomorrow afternoon.

Leather would be nice. The big thing I wish this car had was the 6.6 kw charger (available 2013 model) instead of the 3.3 kw charger. I like to drive to Lawrence sometimes, and the prospect of having to occupy myself for hours and hours to recharge enough to drive back doesn't sound like fun.

I hope some Chademo chargers get installed between places like Topeka, Lawrence, KC, etc. These would significantly expand my range.

Would be really nice to have QC chargers available, but from what I've read, the only thing installed in the area is L2. So, yes, the faster on-board charger would be nice.

Eric, I'll bet you get yours first, since you've had a May date longer than me and have "evidence" (invoice). There's still that fudge factor of "week of" built into the actual delivery. I need to get my trade-in prepped and evaluated (will try Carmax and other places).

Everybody should definitely post pics when they take delivery. Can't wait until I see these "in the wild!" :D

These are pictures of my in-process service upgrade (EVSE install already completed). KCPL approved/should be back in a few days to move over the power line, attach to the new wiring, add the new meter and remove the old one. In the meantime, living with this ghastly look  ; will need to paint soon. Hopefully, all this work will be done by the time I get the car. :)

Nope, but I talked to a guy @ Randy Reed Friday who said it was supposed to come in that day. Not sure if it did, haven't been called. :( Probably next week. Taking my Grand Vitara LTD to Carmax tomorrow for a bid. Hope they buy it. RR will probably lowball it; trying to avoid that.

I got a call from the dealership today. My car has finally arrived. They will be getting it ready Monday, and I have an appointment Tuesday to pick it up. I'll upload pictures.

Kathy - Good luck with CarMax.
