On the same comparison epiphany, I realized on this last trip (while I went below low battery warnings both ways), that the low battery warning at 8.5kWh was the equivalent of a 40% charge on my old 2013 leaf when I traded it in for the new Leaf Plus. 8kWh feels overly cautious as its over 10% of the overall battery capacity. But I guess if you are doing 200+ miles on a run, you need to have sufficient range to get to the next Level 2 or 3 charger.
