No demand, remember? :)

Companies love to hide behind the 'no demand' tripe. I was very excited when I heard that Ford were going to market an identical Ford Focus worldwide. The Euro diesels are great and I was interested in the prospect of getting one here in the US. Despite the fact they are marketing an 'identical' vehicle worldwide, they chose not to offer the Diesel option in the US due to 'lack of demand'. Well if you don't sell it, demand is sure to be low. Here is what they are selling in the UK.

No demand? What if you just whispered 80mpg? The best VW can do is 35mpg with the Passat. Even making adjustment for the difference in gallon measurement between the US and UK, the latest Focus would sell very well with folks over here with long commutes. Looks like a great supplement to an EV for those long trips.
