Yes, I agree, the installation cost can be prohibitive. My company only went for one because they got a free unit on a DOE grant. I think the install cost was approved because they then switched their security car to a Cmax Energi. They charge us $0.40/hr while charging & a $0.50 session fee. So far it's just me and the Cmax, do no issues, but that won't last.
It could be decades before it all gets sorted out, but work and home will probably always be the mainstays.
In PA, Sheetz Gas stations are about to add QCs. If more of that happened, ranges got longer, and charges faster with more kWs, we could see neon signs at gas stations displaying $/kWh, and the market would set the price.
