It would be interesting if by "Gen 2" they meant the 30kwh pack. The 2013-2015 pack is more like V 1.2. In the case of the early 2013 version it's more like V1.01.
 
Mostly, I just enjoying seeing the battery pack gutted and explained like this. It does suggest that, down the road, that businesses will arise to service a used Leaf market (and other EVs) where owners just need some bad cells replaced in the battery pack to extend the useful life of the car.

I would definitely stick with my Leaf long-term, if I could get a rejuvenated battery pack for <$2000 US. Based on this video, within the next 5 years I would think this type of retrofit will be more common place, which is awesome if it happens.
