I stopped at a local ChargePoint charger today for the first time. I couldn't get the connector lose from the EVSE unit. I remembered that there were some issues with the button not releasing it on some public chargers, so I was getting ready to report it as broken. Then I swiped my ChargePoint card and heard a click. Connector released easily. I didn't realize that this was the sequence on some chargers. A good point though, as we have had some vandalized here (Atlanta,GA). We have found some connectors packed with chewing gum!! I always look before I insert now!

At least in Northern California, ALL ChargePoint EVSEs work this way. You present your RFID card, the unit authorizes you over the network and only then does it release the J-handle. It will also tell you to swipe your card again to end the session but I just replace the J-handle.
