I can't discern the difference between a NEMA 5-20R and a NEMA 6-20P. It also looks like a NEMA 6-15 would fit this receptacle (which is worrisome because I want to get access to 20 amps, not 15).

This receptacle is at two locations that we drive our EVs to on occasion. Both homeowners do not use the receptacle, so I don't know if it used to power an A.C unit, welder, or something else.

R = Receptacle, P = Plug. NEMA 5-20R (120V) has the opposite slot twisted compared to NEMA 6-20R (240V).

Stayonline has a good NEMA plug chart.
