Well, on the topic of buying a used LEAF... every now and again I like to shop for them just to see what's out there. More and more of the used ones seem to be picked up by (a.k.a being dumped by) Carrvana).

Today I found this 2013 LEAF SV for sale there with ~64K for $7590.

Now I've never seen a LEAF with only 6 bars left for sale until this one.Image The Carfax raves that the last owner drove less the 4000 miles a year. I was thinking that at about 30 miles a charge, it would take some time to get 4000 miles on that car. :D

Anyway, the only up with Carvana is that at least an unsuspecting buyer might figure out in the 7 day return period that the car they just bought will not go far from home. Anyone want to chime in on what they think the car is really worth?
There's a sucker born every minute. It's just like my '13 Leaf SV in terms of equipment (no CHAdeMO but has the premium package). However, I'm still at 11 capacity bars (SOH around 79.xx%) and have about 68.2K miles. Wow. From the Carfax, it was built 5/31/2013 so it has the same built month as mine (mine was built 5/23/2013). I guess the previous drivers didn't take good care of the battery.

That's a crazy high price. At this point, I'd be happy if I got $6K for my car. I tried submitting mine to Carvana for a quote on 11/28/20 and received an offer of $4,262 :( and I'd answered "pretty good" for their grade in terms of physical condition.

I'd say that car at Carvana is worth $4K or less since it's lost so much capacity. Carvana and most places seem to not factor in or have any clue about battery condition.

I found a 4 capacity bar left '11 Leaf at a Hon-duh dealer that I pointed to at https://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic. ... 10#p552310.

I didn't notice that until you mentioned it. I looked at the pics at https://www.carvana.com/vehicle/1607252. So, either the inlet pic is wrong (from another car) or the listing is wrong.

The listing also incorrectly says it has fog lights. The exterior pics of the front don't show any fog lights. From this, it seems Carvana doesn't know Leafs.

Typical. They also have a 2015 S with 11 bars for $10k. The first car would be a good second car for us, at the price I suggested.

It is a newer car, so it must be a lot better -- right ? ;)

It has been obvious forever that the Carvanas et al of the world have absolutely no clue how to price EVs. It makes for an outstanding buying opportunity for informed EV buyers: high(er) mileage, old(er) EVs with batteries in good condition are **cheap**

Even before the GM 62 kWh Bolts were going up in flames a 2017 was under $20k. Now they are ~ $13 - $14k but I think that is the fire story. So far as I know, the battery has degraded little through the years.

Small battery LEAFs can also be excellent value if they meet the consumer's needs and are not in hott-ish climates. Our LEAF is 1/2 a car, only used for local duties but it cost $7,000 4 years ago and it will probably serve us well another 3 - 5 years. That works out to ~ $70 a month for the car, along with cheap fuel, cheap insurance, and cheap maintenance.

The smart money move would probably be to sell the LEAF for ~ $5,000 (and thereby end up having paid ~ $40 a month for the car) and buy a 2017/18 Bolt that would probably outlast however long my wife cared to drive it. Unfortunately, the fire stories have set her against the idea, even if we just let the car sit until its issues are resolved.

The 2015 Leaf has the best 24kwh battery Nissan ever made. At 11 bars it's actually not a bad value at $10k - unlike the 6 bar 2013.

That is not saying much.

Put another way: place the 2015 in exactly the same conditions and usage as my LEAF built 10/2013 and come back in 4 years. How much do you think the interval degradation will differ ?

I'll guess less than 5 miles of range ... for $5,000. I'll pass

Nice video. Wasn't aware of any Florida deliveries in 2010. I only recall the 4 publicity events in WA, OR, Bay area and Southern CA. After that, the first deliveries started "around" the 5th of Jan in the LA, San Diego area. Its possible some picked their up a few days before but?
