2013 Leaf base. My wife left the car "running" the other day--ie, she got out of the car without turning it off. 24 hours later the battery was all but fully discharged. Is this normal? Nothing was on--no lights, fan, etc.--just the car left in readiness.

Also I found that, if I leave the car "running," then go way, taking the key with me, if I then come back to the car without the key I can still drive it--even though it says "key not found".

Shouldn't it turn itself off if the key goes out of proximity?

Yes. Because in READY mode, the car uses several hundred watts to keep the car on.

Normal. This is the way other vehicles w/similar key systems work (e.g. Toyota Smart Key System).

No. What would happen if the key fob battery was weak and died? What if there were strong RF interference or something blocked/interfered w/the communication between the car and key fob? Again, this is consistent w/other similar systems.

My Prius sales droid in 06 specifically went over the passing the fob over to the other driver if handing off the car.
