Incoming text locking up Navi panel

I connect my Samsung Mantra (it's a cheapy) to the blutooth no problem. I am driving along listening to the radio and I get an incoming text message. The panel thinks it's a phone call and proceeds accordingly. For the next 30s or so the panel is completely locked up until the call failed message shows up. Until then any button on that panel I push has no effect. Anyone experience this?
 
I get plenty of text messages on my Android phone while connected over Bluetooth to the vehicle. No lockups at all, so it sounds like the problem is limited to your type of phone.
 
no issues with droid. occasionally voice control will not work when connected to BT on car. disconnecting makes voice control work although it is supposed to (and does sometimes) work when BT is on
 
I think I did narrow it down to the phone because I used my nokia E65 in the leaf and incoming texts do not produce that problem.
