Since Bush came up, this call for unity was quite good. It's under 3 minutes long.

A nice video, but I read this morning that the idiot in chief blasted it for being an attack on him. As we all know everything is about Teflon Don.

All the way to the right. Oh, not correct, right wing.

Nationalism even in the face of a higher death toll. And wouldn't work in non-socialist economies.

Correct was something like South Korea or Taiwan. 60,000+ fewer deaths. And counting.

Haven't read the article yet but this is the first time I've heard of a claim that Sweden's been handling this well from a health and safety POV.

It's been pointed out that Sweden has more COVID-19 deaths than nearby Norway, Finland and Denmark. You can see they are way worse in COVID-19 deaths per 1 million at https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ than those countries, if you sort by that. Right now on that metric it's:
Sweden 291
Denmark 87
Finland 45
Norway 40

For kicks, here are those numbers for some of its other nearby countries:
Estonia 41
Latvia 9
Lithuania 18
Poland 19
Germany 86

Since South Korea and Taiwan were mentioned, those numbers are 5 and 0.3. Singapore was doing well, until it wasn't recently. They're at 3.

I would say 291 per capa falls way short of the apocalyptic predictions for any country not going into economic shutdown and lockdown.

They were down to 123 new cases on Monday and dropping fast. They are still taking precautions but doing so in a more sustainable way. I think we'll see that model adopted elsewhere.

As for it being worse in Sweden it's only marginally worse, certainly not apocalyptic. It's been pointed out you can flatten the curve but probably can't do much to reduce the area under the curve.

In Sweden they trust their government. There are social distancing rules, and the Swedes are following them to a greater degree than are Americans. Here we have to sort through crap-loads of conflicting and often very wrong directives from our governments, and when people do that they tend to pick the ones that best match what they want to do anyway.

I saw a news article that said Sweden didn't adopt the china style lock down and shutdown because they knew it wasn't sustainable and that the Xi virus was going to need a long term solution. The swede government knew people would revolt against a lockdown and shutdown and look what's happening people are revolutionizing against the lock down.

It would appear the people of sweden trust their government and the government knows their people.

Also new data out of new York is saying 60% of the people being hospitalized for this communist plegue are getting the virus while staying home, 90% claim they haven't been going out, haven't been using public transportation, ect. Go lock down...
I would say new york is doing a pretty good job proving its not really working.
