:D The reason for keeping the car:
1-The battery was replaced under manufacturers warranty 2 years ago and it's current state of charge is 265 using

2- The car is paid for

3- With 3 kids, it is difficult to keep in good looking order the interior, I am sure returning the lease will be an additional cost.

4- Insurance is cheaper

5- Still have 1 years left on the extended warranty, I submitted 4 claims (automatic doors, airbags warning light, wiper motor and main battery .

6-My wife drive's the kids around for school and activities, she drives around 60 miles per day, this leaf will be used even after loosing 4 bars.

7- We own the cars untill the wheels fall off, we still have a 1964 vw bug and 1970 MG midget.

While keeping the car likely makes sense for you, you need to be aware that Nissan (like most manufacturers) voids remaining warranties on vehicles that are totaled or damaged bad enough that they should have been totaled (could be argued if title remains clean, but salvage title will definitely void manufacturer warranty). If the extended warranty is not through Nissan, you may or may not still have coverage--read the fine print.

Yeah, I too was going to mention that any warranties may essentially be void once the vehicle become a salvage title.

Imo keeping the Leaf in this situation is a gamble with good odds, but the prize is not all that attractive considering the mentioned 60 mile daily driving need.

Another thought, the HOV white decals are expiring end of this year, if the car got the decals issued before 2017 no more decals for you. New car gets the red decals which are good until the end of 2021.

And then the news about the pack replacement cost increase will surely send used Leaf values down even lower:
