Alright guys,
I think I know the answer, but just out of curiosity and to make myself look like fool, I'll ask again
My new 2014 Nissan Leaf S, does not have audio streaming, capability.
I tried various options but just like you couldn't fine one.
I have Iphone 5, and i read somewhere that if you connect your USB via iphone 5 , it starts streaming. I am talking about Pandora.
How do you do that? I tried deleting the phone and connecting the phone thru the automated voice system as well as manual control.

I noticed Pandora playing on the phone as the play button was not visible, but the output is not coming from the speaker and neither from the phone.
My other vehicle does that when i connect via USB.

Is it, at all possible, or am i just wasting time?

Thanks

I have 2014 S as well. The bluetooth is phone only. It does not have A2DP:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth_profile#Advanced_Audio_Distribution_Profile_.28A2DP.29" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

USB will only detect it as iPOD, meaning it will only play songs through Leaf speakers that are on the device. The only option is to use AUX cable, male to male and use the AUX input on the leaf.

It is very sad that a 30K car lacks A2DP when it has phone capabilities. Stupid Nissan!!

so the question now becomes does leaf Bluetooth adapter differs between the leaf models past 2013?

From my research model S and SV/SL use different bluetooth modules, so the main question is do both modules have the same plug that would work with either model stereo head unit? My guess is they are probably standard...

these are the part numbers of the telematics bluetooth modules:

model s module 28388-3NF0A

model sv/sl module 283B0-3NF0A

I wonder if with proper firmware upgrade head unit (stereo) would accept audio streaming from Iphone via USB?

Just picked up my 2014 S last night. Put me down as one who would have upgraded to the SV had I known that the S's stereo was this crippled - I would have chosen the SV even though it did not have QC. BT streaming was the one thing missing from my 2006 prius that I just sold...

My fault for not testing it, but I saw "Bluetooth" emblazoned on the dash, and relied on the sales person who said "stereo's are the same except the SV has nav/carwings". At least my Prius had the Aux and power source tucked into the console so that I could keep a Belkin BT receiver there. I gave the Belkin BT receiver to the guy who bought the Prius thinking "certainly my next car will have BT streaming!"

I test drove an SV first and didn't think about the "S" not having BT streaming.
Here is what I have as a backup. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003PPGOC0/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2R0FX412W1BDT
and here is my main setup now. http://www.proclipusa.com/phone-holders/device/apple/iphone-5-5s-with-a-case/adjustable-holder-for-rugged-cases-511430-19369.cmsv?p_leftorright=0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Both have their pros and cons, but they work pretty good for me. $50 for the GoGroove and $100 for the Proclip.

My 2015 "S" model does not appear to include streaming either, nor does it seem capable of picking up phone calls (with an iPhone 6, iOS 8.02).

My 6 on IOS 8.0 works with my "S" for phone calls.
Use "reset network setting" on your phone and then try it. Also somebody said that you may have to log out and back into iCloud.

So silly that the S model 2015 can't stream music via Bluetooth. All that technology built in and every one who sees it looks at the cord dangling from my phone and chuckles. Great advertisement Nissan.

My 2015 S works beautifully with my iPhone 5S for Bluetooth phone calls, iOS 8.1.2. Try updating your iPhone 6 to the latest iOS version.

I use a very short USB-to-Lightning cable in my USB port for my phone to play music. If I'm playing music and a phone call comes in, the music plays through the radio for a short while, implying that Bluetooth streaming is just disabled. When the music does go through the radio, it's at a very low quality, which is probably why they disabled it.

Most of the time I just leave my iPod Classic (80GB) in the car and use that for music.

Just got my 2015 Leaf S. Also disappointed about streaming audio. I'm also not very pleased about the manual which has a section on "Bluetooth Streaming Audio", including support for AD2P. The manual makes no mention of it being optional or only available on some models.

It's been semi-well-known since model year 2013 (first year of S trim) that the S trim didn't have it.

I was going to make the claim that it's spelled out in http://www.nissanusa.com/electric-cars/leaf/versions-specs/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and http://nissannews.com/en-US/nissan/usa/presskits/us-2015-nissan-leaf-press-kit" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; but apparently, it's not. :( I couldn't find any mention of stuff like Bluetooth streaming or A2DP, only stuff like Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System or Bluetooth® switches, yet nothing differentiating S from SV/SL on this. SV and SL have it.

It doesn't seem to be listed on the window sticker of my '13 SV (w/both packages) either. Weird.

After initial disappointment about lack of BT streaming, I've been doing fine with plugging in my iPhone to the USB port of my Leaf S, but having just come back from traveling and having rented a car with Bluetooth streaming, I have to say that I really like the automatic pairing when you get into the car. So I'm thinking of getting a Bluetooth adapter for the Leaf, and wondering if anyone has recommendations. Ideally I'd like one that would be:

1. powered by the USB port.
2. re-pairs automatically on startup. That's probably pretty standard.
3. sends the audio via USB port. (Not a big deal, but would be one fewer connection.)
4. provides track info to the stereo display.
5. supports play/pause and track advance from the car controls.

Any recommendations? I'm not sure if items 3-5 are possible or not, so any general thoughts about that are welcome, too.

Thanks in advance!

I just got a new 2015 'S' Trim and was really surprised by the lack of bluetooth streaming audio. The 2015 owner's manual explicitly states that it does - at least according to my reading:

Pg 4-36, Chapter 4, Section: 'Audio Systems (models without Navigation System), subsection "Bluetooth Streaming Audio'
"This system supports the Bluetooth Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP,AVRCP)."

That's pretty explicit, right?

Also, another poster mentioned http://www.nissanusa.com/bluetooth to look up compatibility. I did so, and for 2015 Leaf with 'no navigation system' and my phone (Samsung Galaxy S4) it clearly says that it IS compatible with audio streaming. Nissan's own bluetooth specialist confirmed that the website is claiming that the 'S' does in fact have audio streaming, but (understandably) couldn't explain why. He said that the website was wrong - the 'S' definitely doesn't have it.

However, once my complaint got escalated to their executive team that person insisted that I was wrong. She explained that the bluetooth website doesn't show compatibility between phones and vehicles - only the features of the phones themselves regardless of the vehicle. I pointed out that the list of features for my phone changed when I selected a different vehicle, and she explained that it was because it depended on which vehicle I picked. I said it seemed like there was a contradiction between those two statements, and she told me our conversation was becoming "unproductive". She also told me that it wasn't reasonable to assume that systems with 'no navigation' had BT streaming audio just because it said so in that section of the manual, because otherwise I would have to conclude that the models 'with navigation' don't have antennas because antennas are discussed in the 'no navigation' section (her argument, wrap your head around it if you can). After a bit of back and forth on those points it she told me that I was only saying what I was saying to try and trick her into admitting something that was wrong, and then told me to have a good day and hung up on me...

Am I crazy here? I don't see how a reasonable person who looked at the Nissan advertising and documentation would have concluded anything other than that the models without navigation systems have BT audio streaming. Any thoughts out there?

BanzaiOtis, thanks for the detailed posting. I also went to the compatibility page and it definitely says the 2015 Leaf (no navigation) is compatible with the Bluetooth Streaming Audio on my phone.

It's really a poor reflection on Nissan that they won't take responsibility for their own documentation.

I've just written to my dealership to complain. although its not really clear what relief is feasible.

Now the website the OP lists: http://www.nissanusa.com/bluetooth" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; seems to me to be clearly limited to discussions of hands free phone operations and does not imply anything about audio streaming.

I downloaded the 2015 manual and looked at it carefully. What is most surprising to me is that despite the fact I can find absolutely no difference in the radio features and controls between the 2013 S and the 2015 S model there was a huge difference in the relative clarity (being charitable) about Bluetooth streaming in the 2015 versus 2013 manuals. The 2013 manual makes it very clear that only SOME models have Bluetooth streaming. In the 2015 manual on the pages the OP sites (Pg 4-36, Chapter 4, Section: 'Audio Systems (models without Navigation System) most sections about the radio and its operations repeat the clause "models without Navigation System" but the Bluetooth section does NOT include that limiting clause. However, the entire section suggests that it is discussing about models without navigation so I see the OP's point. If, between 2013 and 2014 you change nothing about the radio/system - why change its description in the manual?

I have not see any "false advertising" where pre-purchase Nissan suggests that the 2015 S has Bluetooth streaming however. If there is some out there, please do share...

On a related point: I purchased http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004CLYJ2I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for my Prius and it was okay, but it like most Bluetooth streaming sytems I have heard, lacked a level of desired quality (fine for Sports-talk radio, less good for music).

My long-term plan for the LEAF is to install something like this http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QP0UIWO/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3N1ERK80IY412&coliid=I2HWN1AOUOMHX1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; which will run LEAF Spy Pro as well as PlugShare, ChargePoint, Navigation, Bluetooth streaming and most everything I'm wanting.
