Any Orlando owners or Kissimmee? .....I see Orlando has a decent infrastructure. Was wondering how you guys been holding out? Very intrested in getting one!

I'm an Orlando owner and loving the Leaf so far. I drive 62 miles roundtrip in from Clermont everyday and haven't had a problem yet. I've charged up at the Florida mall a few times but the charger is in a crappy location near the cab stand there so a lot of times the cab/vans decide they deserve the spot :(

I'd still like to see more stations around at more useful locations. I've charged at a Walgreens near International Drive and a Buffalo Wild Wings but most were merely to say I did it. Hardly get any extra miles. But outside of a movie theater or grocery store where I'm likely to spend more time would be perfect.

I'm trying to get one installed at my work off of John Young Parkway but it's taking a while.

Also, after getting a taste of the quick charge at the Leaf Drive Event I'm hoping a Nissan dealer nearby gets one so I can at least hit them up once in a while.

That's Awesome stuff, yea, using the chargepoint app I basically was checking all the key points and it looks good in Orlando thus far, although it would be amazing if we can get 440v chargers around. But I work around Kirkman and I seen they put up many near a wingate hotel and international so I been very excited because that means its viable for me. I truley wish they would put some on the way to Melbourne so a Leaf owner can head to the beach lol that would be nice, but mapping it out it doesn't look like you would make it to the Nissan dealership in Melbourne from Orlando lol. I'm probably going to test drive one on Thursday won't be ready for one until 6 months but once I have mine mind on getting one its a done deal.

FYI: Just stopped by the Orlando Drive Event at the Florida Mall and got my free t-shirt and 480v quick charge. I'm assuming they'll have the same in South Florida.
They had to turn the 480v on for me but it was cool to finally get to use my quick charge port.

I love that the fast charger just looks like it was thrown on the back of a pick up truck with a bunch of other junk. We are debating driving ours uncharged to the event so that we can try out the fast charger.

It looks like Carwings establishes that I really beat the distance record and reached 132.9 miles on a single charge:

My city driving was residential and commercial streets with speed limits of 30 to 45 mph and me generally going 36 to 41 with stops for traffic lights, stop signs and backups every few blocks, with perhaps a straightaway of a mile or so every once in awhile. I kept up with the flow of traffic.

Here is the more detailed data from Carwings.

On 1/20 I drove 5.9 miles. "Driving History" shows 1.1 kWh consumed. "My Driving Style" clarifies that it was 1.5 kWh consumed driving, 0.1 kWh consumed by accessories, and 0.5 regen, for a net 1.1 kWh used, or 5.6 m/kWh

On 1/21 I drove 47.3 miles. "Driving History" shows 8.5 kWh consumed. "My Driving Style" clarifies that it was 11.7 kWh consumed driving, 0.6 kWh consumed by accessories, and 3.9 regen, for a net 8.5 kWh used, or 5.6 m/kWh.

On 1/22 I drove 79.7 miles. "Driving History" shows 12.2 kWh consumed. "My Driving Style" clarifies that it was 15.2 kWh consumed driving, 0.9 kWh consumed by accessories, and 3.9 regen, for a net 12.2 kWh used, at 6.5 m/kWh.

Decided the best place to add the word "Electric" on the front of the car was the area where the license plate would go. They cost 99 cents each at PepBoys (or any other auto parts store in town).

Still need to get lettering for the sides.

Hey Florida Leafers: Will there be any other members of the 200 KM club at our meeting tomorrow?
Congrats, Roy! You're our long range specialist. :)
Indeed Roy holds the world record for distance on a single charge according to this forum! I have not been keeping track of my mileage per charge. I have only gone into LB mode twice as my routine has been to recharge when I get down to 2 bars. I am sure I can break into the 100 Mile club if I drive in Eco mode and keep my speed down. The 200KM club is not inconceivable as there are several routes to my office that do not involve freeway driving.

So - is anyone else joining at the Drive Electric Tour on Saturday?

At last count I think it was 5 of us....

1) Me
2) Spike
3) BrainDonor
4) now7grandkids
5) N1ghtrider

Is everyone still set so that we overlap at 3 pm?

Looking forward to meeting you all :D

Eve, I don't think now7grandkids will be coming, but I should be there around 3. See you then!

Hmm, can't find that on pepboys.com, can you please be more specific as to the part # ?

I'm still planning on driving down tomorrow (Friday) morning early, with a stop off for breakfast at Delray to get a little extra charge. I'm also planning to check out the MiaGreen Expo: http://www.miagreen.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I believe these are at the same place, right?

Please report back. This is last leg of

They dont bother selling it online. You need to go to an actual auto parts store.

The MiaGreen Expo was a trade show but I attended it as well. Caught up with Luis from ECOMB. I met him at the South Florida screening of "Revenge of the Electric Car". He is responsible for establishing the Miami Beach Bike Share program (the most popular in the nation I am told) and just launched the Hertz CarShare program. They will eventually have a Leaf and 4 chargers on South Beach.

I also finally got to Meet Andy Kinard, the President of CarCharging.com. His company is building out the EV Charging Infrastructure on a revenue sharing basis with businesses that agree to install them. He is responsible for the handful of ChargePoint Level 2 Chargers that exist around South Florida.

I went there this afternoon on my lunch break. KeyDiver and I took pictures of FPL's Leaf. Another pic for my EV Facebook album.

I also learned how to use the DC quick charger.

Set aside some time to check out the FREE Nissan Health And Fitness Expo running from 10 to 6. The Expo runs Friday and Saturday Only.

They WILL be expecting some Leaf owners around 3pm! We can enter directly into the parking lot area where they are test driving the cars (the corner of Convention Center Drive and 18th street). I will try and make it

keydiver, how did it go today? Were you able to stop in Delray on the way down and up?

Nice to finally meet some of you guys today! :D

Spike - We checked out the "ELECTRIC" lettering on your car before we left....very nice!

BrainDonor - Trust you made it home ok - thanks for helping me try to get over my range anxiety about driving up to Ft. Lauderdale!

Report for those who could not attend:
- It was interesting to find out about FPL's charger program. There are several qualifications to meet, but what we were basically told was that the program offers a free charger for those who own their home and who purchase the LEAF. We signed up for more information so I will share anything new that we learn.
- There were not as many people driving the cars as there were when they did the tour at the Sawgrass. This was very disappointing -- especially since they had a booth inside the convention center where they could have been encouraging people to drive the cars but when we talked to the few people working at the booth, they were pretty clueless about the car.

Yes, it worked out great. Delray Beach is about half way, and an hour stop for breakfast, and then a nice dinner downtown at Pineapple Grove, gave me enough extra charge to give me a safe margin to get home. But, the traffic around Miami was so horrible that I don't think I'll be doing that again. I drove 55 mph the whole way on 95, which was a little nerve-wracking at times, but most of the time it was about the same as the rest of the traffic in the righthand lane.
