Charged it today using the L3 at Fred Meyer. It was at 38%, and it took about 30 min to 80%, and an additional 30 min to 97%.
So for the time being, I'll let it sit over there during my work day (5 min walk) for 1 hour, then go back and pick it up to have an almost fully-charged car.

Next projects: Subwoofer and side molding.

leaving your car unattended at a fast charge station will create a lot of problems. charging to 100% will create more. if you have all day, camp out at one of the hundreds of unused L2 stations.

Steve welcome to the EV club. I second Dave's comment. I have heard stories of 4-5 Leaf's literally circling the parking lot waiting for the DCQC. Charging past 80% is slower as you already determined. As Dave said, it also overheats/damages the battery more than slower or lower SOC charging. Please stay with your car so that you can move out of the way for the next user. Things will likely get worse as more new Leafs are purchased this summer. Also, please pass this advice on to others as well. Until we get hundreds or maybe thousands more charging stations, there will always be somebody who needs a charge, perhaps more than you (maybe even a guy who is 300 miles from home in his Leaf. I was on the edge of that TOU trial and can say that not only did PSE not get much use, they got a lot of complaints from people who signed up but didn't change usage behavior so didn't see savings. If you want PSE to reinstitute TOU, contact the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission. They are the ones who have to approve everything PSE wants to do.

Anybody heard anything about the chances of Gov Inslee's proposed 40-50 DCQC in the transportation package being passed? Also, does the Skagit river bridge collapse put pressure on for quick passage of the bill? Is anybody tracking this?

Also, how about a whole Seattle area (or WA state) page, this thread is getting ridiculous.

I will 2nd that! we are quickly becoming one of the largest LEAF groups in the country. may not be up to Bay Area standards yet but its getting close!

Just thought I'd add a possible charging stop on US 101. I emailed the Artic Pub and RV Park (two miles south of the 101/107 junction) asking about a possible charge during a lunch break at the pub. Really neat reply as follows:

No problem Bill. I’ll have open 50A sites for you to charge your car. I have been planning to set up a charging station close to the tavern, but have been too busy. No fee, just pass the word around. I consider it my contribution to a better world. Sites 1, 2, 3, and 11 have 50 Amp outlets.

So, I am passing the word around. Then, moments later, I received a second message:

Heads up. They don’t open the tavern until noon, so if you arrive earlier, we can visit on my deck.

Can't beat that with a stick. Ill take some photos and then post on recargo/plug share.

If more quick chargers have been proposed, I hope that has a zero percent chance of passing with the budget. The state has far, far more urgent needs to address. There should be 0 DCQC's on the state's near-term plan, unless they are already part of a previously approved west coast green highway install. And if they're doing that, then the chargers are not going to be in the Seattle area (based off some earlier deal with Blink).

I'd love to see more chargers. But until the companies can get a reasonable pricing structure in place, these things will be a drain on limited state resources.

Instead, they should try to get a couple of eco-minded companies in the state to offer to foot the bill for the chargers + install + electricity + upkeep for a number of years.

Since I haven't heard anything I assume it wasn't being taken seriously by the legislature, but I emailed the folks at the WCGH and they said it was still in as a provision of the transportation package to be voted on this month, didn't specify where and I haven't actually seen it in anywhere. I was just hoping for a little EV pork in the rush to fix our infrastructure.

Just a reminder to all on the South end (Yes, I’m talking to you fellow Fairwoodites!) that there is a LEAF gathering tomorrow from 1-3 at IKEA. We have a little club section set up on Saturday at the park across from the Uptown shopping center. There is rumor that the electric bus (http://www.tri-cityherald.com/2013/05/16/2398116/electric-bus-to-hit-tri-city-streets.html) may be in one of the city cruises. If you'd like to show with us, you'll need to register and be at Denny's around 5am on Saturday. Myself, Petecomp1, and a couple of other Leafs and Volts will be attending. We would love to see a Tesla. Any Seattle folks want to zip on over? Heck with all those DCQC's and a 6 kW charger, it should be pretty easy.

Are there any working QC stations at Nissan dealerships near Tacoma? Or does the Tahoma Market in Fife remain the only one? Am wondering what availability there is like to. TIA for any intel or data points.

not sure of your destination but Fife is a very short distance from Gig Harbor. like 15 miles maybe so looks to be very doable with a 120 volt boost while visiting, i dont see much problems at all

Thanks Dave. While Longbranch is actually about 15 miles beyond GH, I'm not concerned about making it there. Mainly getting back without having to wait for a level 2 charge along the way, as I'll have other (less patient!) passengers with me.

If I've got reliable QC boost options, that isn't much of a concern. I don't know what the reliability/typical wait times for the Tahoma QC is, so it would be nice to know about a reliable 2d or 3d option if there were one.
