...Renault could use some good news right now, since we just learned that deliveries of the little EV are being pushed back to 2013 because of a software glitch in the car's R-Link infotainment system. The problem isn't that you won't be able to play music from your smartphone, since the problem is specific to the R-Link used in the EV and how it relates information about the battery state of charge...

Renault Zoe is the "mondial de l'automobile" in Paris.
S7-En-direct-du-Mondial-de-l-auto-Renault-Zoe-274029.jpg

And it is now possible for French customer to book it.
Price from 13700€ (17800$) (including government discount) and 79€ (100$) per month to rent the 23kWh battery (7800 miles a year).
Probably not a lot of deliveries before January 2013.

Autonomy NEDC 210km (175km for the Nissan Leaf).

Why does that mileage number sound familiar?

The smoking gun in their screwed up calculations for Phoenix. Using Euro numbers perhaps?

7767 miles equals 12,500km.

So, if I'm an engineer looking at USA data in say, any country in the world on the French measuring system, it might be easy to confuse 12,500 as km, and then wrongly convert that 7800 miles.

Then make little adjustments, as any good engineer would do, for Phoenix (lowered to 7500) and raised for say, Boston.

Anyone able to find or produce an English translation?

Some of the numbers seem a bit disappointing.

If understood the text and also converted correctly:

0-60 mph ~13 seconds?

Weight ~3300 lbs?

That near-LEAF weight seems kind of heavy for a car of that size.

Anyone able to see from the the image on p 24 (or elsewhere) showing a lot of "stuff" over the motor the charger configuration?

The article below seems to indicate a range considerably shorter than for a LEAF.

Anyone been able to find a report or make fair guess at what the available battery capacity (of the 22 kWh total) is?

...Renault says the ZOE is designed to optimize real-world range under all driving conditions. For the driving range in "built-up areas" drivers can expect between 100-150 km (62-93 miles) of driving range. One expects that "built up areas" means city driving, and that driving range in highway conditions would be less...

...The ZOE will also be a more practical alternative to the competition with an NEDC driving range of 130 miles, more than the Nissan LEAF with an official range of 110 miles per charge. Renault says that will translate to a real-world range of around 90 miles in warm conditions, less on colder days...

Zoe intro delayed:

...The Zoe EV is a B-segment car that, in Tavares’ own words, “is almost impossible to go back to internal combustion after driving it. We are confident in its success and impatient to launch it.”

Not desperate enough, though, to suspend its launch in order to make way for the all-new Clio IV that premiered at September’s Paris Auto Show.

Is Renault’s COO inconsistent? No, he’s simply a pragmatist: both models belong in the compact class but serve two completely different purposes. The Clio is a very high-volume product that can provide Renault with a nice profit during its launch period. The Zoe, on the other hand, is bound to lose money for years to come but will help establish its maker as Europe’s leader in electric vehicles.

“I will turn over the keys to the first Zoe by the end of the year”, promised Tavares...

Well, he kept his promise.

But it sounds like deliveries to the general public may still be many months away:
After ordering a vehicle at the Paris Motor Show in September 2012, Arnaud Montebourg, Minister of Industrial Recovery, was presented today with the keys to the first ZOE in the Cour d’Honneur of the Bercy Finance Ministry by Carlos Tavares, Chief Operating Officer of the Renault group...

The Minister of Industrial Recovery is the first customer to take delivery of ZOE before mass launch in the Renault network in spring 2013...

The video at the article below claims 25% increase in range for the Zoe over a "regular" BEV is due to Three factors, each representing a third of the improvement They are the Heat pump, the tires, and the improved regen braking.

So, if you believe these guys, if the 2013 LEAF has a heat pump, and better tires, you could be looking at a ~16% range improvement just from those factors, before the other reported efficiency improvements are taken into account.

http://insideevs.com/renault-and-michelin-create-maybe-the-perfect-electric-vehicle-tire/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

What rate of charge is it taking in the video? What charge rate is possible with the included EVSE?

I wonder how tall (and wide) those guys are? The cabin looks a little claustrophobic to me, but that may just be the camera angle.

NO new news I can see in the latest article below.

Anyone been able to find an actual road test yet?

Details of the charger, and whether its technology can be used on other BEV drivetrain designs?

IMO, in light of the 2013 LEAF's 124 mile rating, the 131 mile Euro-range for the much smaller ZOE, is not looking as spectacular today, as it did when it was first announced ~two years ago.

....Six world firsts on Renault ZOE:

1. The first mass production electric vehicle with prices starting from €13,700 ($17,903 US) incl. VAT (price for France, minus the €7,000 ($9,148 US) eco-bonus, battery rental from €79 ($103 US) / month incl. VAT for 12,500 km /year over three years).

2. The first production electric vehicle with a range homologated at over 200 (210 km or 131 miles) (NEDC standardized
cycle).

3. Able to cover between 100 and 150 km (62 to 93 miles) depending on driving style and weather conditions, ZOE has the longest range in its category. An achievement owed to its Range OptimiZEr system, which boosts range in all driving conditions.

4. The first electric vehicle that can be charged in between 30 minutes and nine hours depending on the power of the charging station (between 3 et 43 kW), from just one socket, thanks to the Chameleon
charger.

5. ZOE can be fast charged (43 kW – 80% of the battery in 30 minutes) on stations whose cost is just one quarter that of existing fast-charge systems.

6. The first vehicle equipped as standard with Renault R-Link, an integrated, connected multimedia tablet...

Bad news....
Not possible to charge Zoe at home without specific box...
No EVSE cable available....
