What was your previous car before Leaf?

2000 Honda Accord EX-V6. About 125K miles and still runs like the day I bought it. I gave it to my Mother-in-law to replace her totaled Chrysler LHS.

    Talk me out of it!

I live in Atlanta too and my commute each way is around 28 miles (near Mall of GA to Brookhaven). I've only had my LEAF for 2 1/2 months and so far no issues with range. I charge to 100% and a typical round-trip will still leave me with 30-40%. I don't have a way to charge at work right now...

    Range advice

Jennifer, I live in Atlanta and commute I-85 daily. My total commute is about 57 miles round-trip and most of them are on 85. I am able to do that commute and get home with around 25-30% of the charge left. I've had my LEAF for 2 months and have driven about 2100 gas-free miles. You should have...

S or SV, which to choose?

I leased my 2014 S a little less than 2 months ago. I use it for commuting which is a little under 60 miles round-trip. I got the quick charge so I can charge faster at home with 240V. The main reason I got the S was the cost over 2 years of lease payments. I wanted to see if an EV would work...

    Lease Offer and questions

I got a 2014 S with charge package for 0 down and $260/mo for 24 months all-inclusive. I'm not sure what the "extra 2500" is you are referring to. I'm in GA and the $7500 federal incentive was factored in to the lease and we also have a $5000 state incentive that I'll get when I file my 2014...

    Recommendation on Home Charging Equipment

I recently purchases a Clipper Creek HCS-40P with a NEMA 14-50 plug and have been very satisfied so far. I needed an electrician to install an outlet in my garage from my circuit breaker box in the basement. Cost for that was $500. Cost with shipping for the unit was ~$700. I am able to charge...

What is the highest you have gotten your range meter?

I'm only about a month into my 2014 lease and have seen 103 but typically it's in the upper 90s. Miles / kWh is consistently 4.1. The vast majority of my driving is highway, half in lots of traffic, half at 70mph. I'm still learning the LEAF and hope to improve that over time.

Where did you mount your home EVSE in the garage?

My garage is very similar to yours with the exception that my circuit breaker box is located in my basement and not in the garage. I had the 220v outlet installed on the front wall and about 2/3 over from left to right. The LEAF is parked on the right side and this will make it very...

Newbie, thinking of a leaf. A few questions

Yes, the base S model (which I have) can be equipped with QC. If you already have an unused 240V in your garage I'd suggest getting an EVSE that can make use of it. I didn't have 240V in my garage and just paid an electrician to install one. I also bought a Clipper Creek HCS-40P EVSE that...

50 AMP breaker - too big?

The HCS-40P is available with NEMA 6-50 or 14-50 so your 10-30 will not work. I didn't have 220 in my garage so I had my electrician put a 14-50 with a 50A breaker to support the HCS-40P with 14-50. I don't know what's involved with switching your 10-30 to a 14-50.

50 AMP breaker - too big?

Have you looked at the Clipper Creek HCS-40P? It requires a 50A breaker and will give you a faster charge if your LEAF supports it. Mine is due to arrive on Wednesday :)

    Opinions - Clipper Creek HCS-40P?

I got my 220 installed today. The electrician used 8AWG, 50A breaker and a 15-40 outlet. Total cost was $500.

    Opinions - Clipper Creek HCS-40P?

I've just emailed Clipper Creek to be sure of what I need for the breaker (50A), receptacle (15-40) and wire (10AWG). I certainly want my electrician to install the right things to support the HCS-40P. I will post a follow up once I hear back from them.

    Opinions - Clipper Creek HCS-40P?

Thanks. I want the semi-portability of the HCS-40P since it's plug in. Metro doesn't show that on their website. I'm confident I can mount the unit once my electrician puts the dedicated 220 in. Glad the Clipper Creek is working well for you. I just want something easy to use with no frills.

    Opinions - Clipper Creek HCS-40P?

I'm looking for opinions, good or bad, on the Clipper Creek HCS-40P. I'm planning to buy one soon once I get the 220 installed into my garage. I've heard some good things about it but curious what others think.

    2014 LEAF S + Charge Package

I did some additional shopping and negotiating and have a deal now for $260 all-inclusive (taxes, tags, title) with only the disposition fee at the end if I turn the car in. The plan is to go to the dealership tomorrow to sign and drive :D .

    2014 LEAF S + Charge Package

I have a local dealer that will do $285/month for 24 month lease, 24K miles, $0 down, all-inclusive, VPP pricing. This is for a 2014 S with Charge package. Is this a good deal or can I do better? Would waiting until the end of the month (almost here) or end of the quarter make a difference...

How to calculate yearly electric cost?

Most of my commute, nearly 22 of the 28 miles is freeway although in Atlanta that means a lot of stop and go. We have HOV and HOT lanes that the LEAF can use at no cost beyond an annual tag cost that would help avoid the stop and go somewhat. For estimation purposes I will probably calculate...

How to calculate yearly electric cost?

I live in the Atlanta metro area and my commute is ~28 miles each way. I have an attached garage at home and a covered parking deck at work. I'm sure I will also use the LEAF for additional around-town trips and of course the Mrs. will want to use it some as well. It will be a 3rd vehicle for...

How to calculate yearly electric cost?

I'm considering a 2014 LEAF S w/charge package and am trying to estimate the savings of electric over gas. My current commuting car gets roughly 25 MPG combined city/hwy and where I live gas is ~$3.15/gallon right now. If I drive that vehicle 12K miles/yr, that comes to ~$1,512/yr in gas. I...
