Has anyone had one of these installed by anyone other than AeroVironment? I have a very simple installation and didn't like their price so elected to just purchase the charging dock. When I went online to apply for a permit, they asked for a "Material and Methods Approval Number." It seems my basic licensed neighborhood electrician isn't going to know what that means. Am I wrong? What has everyone else done?

My home is prewired. I plan to change the outlet to a 6-20r and plug in the Leviton 160. I will also drop the breaker from 40a to 20a. No plan to get a permit.
Otherwise if pulling wire I would recommend hiring your own electrician. It is not as much as you might think.

It is OK to just pull a permit for a new 240v outlet. No need to list everything you might plug into it later (EVSE's do come in plug-in models BTW).
