Here's what I came up with...this would suggest that we're part of a LEAF gang.

For those of you attending, the directions in the RSVP confirmation are a bet vague. I've asked for clarification. If you are not familiar with the park, El Prado becomes a pedestrian walkway and plaza well before you reach the Fleet. The parking lot for the Fleet is actually off Park Blvd, the same side of the park as the Zoo. I assume this is where the EVSEs will be, but to be sure I sent an email requesting confirmation. If I am correct, you do not want to enter the park on El Prado, you want to enter from Park Blvd. as if you were going to the Zoo.

The Reuben H. Fleet is building #11 on the map linked below, with the parking lot behind it.

The entrance road is "Space Theater Way" and it is the first lot on the right.

And since Jan Helbing's email today mentioned 7 more chargers already available:

"For all you EV drivers that are attending, there will be 3 operational chargers in the Reuben Fleet Science Center parking lot. However, we are expecting more than 25 EVs in between 10:30am and 12:00pm, so please take this into account if you need a charge. In addition, there are 7 working chargers at the Palisades parking lot in Balboa Park (2111 Pan America Plaza, Balboa Park San Diego, CA 92101) which will see a lot less traffic on Thursday. "

... I thought I'd check them out. It turns out that they are not installed yet, just a trench dug with steel plates covering it, and sidewalk re-poured as of 2 pm today. I spoke to the Baker Electric guy working there, and he said the EVSE would be installed tomorrow but probably not activated til Thursday. They will be in the parking lot right in front of the Municipal Gym, bldg 27 on the same map. From Park Blvd, take Presidents Way to the Pan American Plaza - traffic flows counter-clockwise around the Plaza (parking lot).

Jan clearly has no idea about the park here, or what Ecotality has done. The only thing I saw was off Park Blvd, just south of the Reuben H Fleet museum:

The furthest right of the 3 concrete pads with conduit is marked for handicapped parking.

I found no other hints of work done, or in progress.

Just in case you thought arranging for EVSE's was easy....Andy Hoskinson told me that the first EVSE you put in has to be "ADA-compliant" (thus, "handicap space"). Not sure how that is gonna work out, but it will be interesting.

Hopefully they will be operational and I won't have to recharge at Nissan.

BTW If anyone is interested, I'll be happy to conduct a behind the scenes tour of the Model Railroad Museum after the festivities have concluded.

Drool! It's a work day, and I'd just about talked myself out of coming, but...

I just received email confirmation from Jan that the event will be held in the parking lot behind the Fleet. To enter, take Park Blvd. to Space Theater Way.

I just went over there ton check it out myself. Saw another red Leaf pulling in just as I was leaving. The pics seemed to have sparked some curiosity.

I'll wear one of gbarry's name tags.
I wouldn't do that to you. You don't have to be me :)

So, here's a "pin" we could just wear in public (a badge would just be goofy)

And here's what I meant by adding some kind of MNL symbol

If you type in http://www.maps.google.com:

Space Theater Way, San Diego, CA

or in CarWings, type in the same thing and then select "A" from your search, which should be "Fleet Space Theater & Science Ctr"

You'll find us !!

BTW June 16 is "Dump The Pump" day, with a media event at the Zoo.

Oh drat! Just saw the pictures of the Gym/Aeospace Museum area - Jan had emailed me that there would be 7 "working" chargers this Thursday, as they were expecting 25+ Leafs, so arranging for a charge at the R.E. Fleet Space Center might be over-booked.

Guess I'll use my alternate plan of getting a supplemental charge at Mossy El Cajon if it appears I'll have insufficient electrons to getting back up the hill to Alpine.

Ah well, should be more chargers coming soon, finally.
