any recommendations for leather in the Bay Area, California? pricing? Sorry, i could not find anything posted.
tks!

Yep, same here, and there are probably more interested - someone could make a bundle in the Bay Area...

+1

I'd spend $1,000 for leather in the bay area (South bay hopefully). All I've seen here is a couple of posts about an unnamed guy who just spoke Spanish. That doesn't bother me too much as long as his work is excellent.

+1

This post won't help you Bay Area folks, but I am absolutely thrilled with my leather installation. (see earlier photos in this thread). The elegance, great aroma, comfort make it a completely different automobile on the inside. My buddies, who ride to the golf course with me, have commented about how it is now a "real upscale machine". :)

I found a shop that will do leather in the Bay Area. I'm going to start a separate thread about a group buy right now.

Here's a link to the discussion about a possible Bay Area leather group buy:

Looking forward to the full report on the leather, and also on the commute! Sounds like you may have hit the jackpot!

Well, the Leaf is back in the garage; and here are some photos of the leather:

I hope these pictures post correctly; I am definitely technologically challenged, and not a photographer. I'll add my trip highlights on a subsequent post.

These links are not working. Any chance I can get some new links?

derkraut, I live in San Diego too. Where did you get the leather installed and how much did it cost if you don't mind me asking? Do you have any pics?

If the idea is to have as less of an impact as possible on environment, why would anyone want to have leather seats ? Leather processing is a very toxic activity i.e. even if you don't care about the animal cruelty.

Leaf ownership equals environmentalist/green ect... is a very common miss conception. When I talk to people about my Leaf, most people make the assumption, That I bought the Leaf to be Green or that I'am tree hugger. Nothing wrong with any of that, but that is not why I bought the Leaf.

I bought the Leaf to gain control over my energy costs. The Leaf goes hand in hand with the Solar panels we installed last year. My energy cost, to power my house and commute to work, are now a fixed cost. The energy cost does not go up when there is a scare on wall street or a hurricane moving through the gulf coast or at the wishes of OPEC. I know what the solar panels and Leaf cost, and in 5 years the two are paid off. Just in time for retirement. Free household electricity and around town driving. Only problem is, if I out live the solar panels and the Leafs batteries.

A nice side benefit is sticking it to the oil companies and it does help the environment. So i'am a little green :)

Well, like a dummy, I erased my leather upgrade photos from Photobucket; so I can't display them here anymore. But, Skyline did a superb job for me ($1K out the door). Their particulars are listed elsewhere in this thread.

Sounds like everyone has been very happy with Sky Line seating. Anyone un-happy? Have appointment for Monday 9/12/11 :D

Took the Lead in at noon on Monday. The shop is 49 miles from our house and I did not want to drive in LA traffic. It is ready this after noon Wed, but we will not pick it up until Thur to skip traffic again. I will post some photo when we get home. We had two extras done. I will included them in the photos.

Have been trying to work out the ride down and back from SM for a couple of weeks. I plan on using them. Look forward to your report. I am interested in your thoughts on colors, as others went gray, but I am hoping to match the tan of the current cloth... But maybe not...

My LEAF exterior is silver. The cloth is showing some dirt on the driver door cloth. Not much, but I see it... And, there is a discoloration on the back seat and I have no idea how it got there, as there have been no riders in the back seat, but there was an empty plastic bag. It wouldn't surprise me if the printing somehow transfered to the plastic cloth.

Down is no problem, and they'll leave the car on charge for you while they do the work. They will need it for a couple of days, IIRC. Unless you're thinking you could get it done while you wait? :?:

Thanks. Indeed-the issue is that time span of 2 full days while they have Mr. LEAF. So... Once I drop the LEAF, go home via friend already planning to come up to WLA. And then, ride down, co-worker, for arrival end of work day 2. Solved.

Both with regular commuters, so no added karmic load. BTW, Bus/bike/and or train combo is about 3 hours so easier to get the shared ride. Plus my life is not smooth water sailing lately, but it goes on.

For what it is worth, the I have developed a sense of how far the car can go, and it is plenty for everything so far. Plenty. :)

Got the Leaf back from Tony today. here is one of the extras we had him do. We had the inserts diamond perforated.

Makes the seat look a little more sporty and upscale.

I like it. Extra cost for that?

Stitching looks dark. Is that a black or dark blue instead of matching grey?

Yes, Tony charged extra for the Diamond Perforation.

The stitching is a contrasting light gray. The stitching does look dark in the photo. It was taking with a 3G iPhone (can not wait for the new iPhone 5) so it is not the best photos. I will take some better ones in the future.

I was told by Nissan Customer Service that you should not cover the top side of your front seats as this is where the side air bags emerge from. It is marker by a small black tag.

You are correct. However, Tony knows that these cars have side airbags and thus they adhere by making sure the leather covers allow for the airbag deployment. In fact, when I discussed keeping the old seat covers as I lease the car, he mentioned that he would reuse the sticker that warns about the deployment. It is sown into the seat cover.
