IMG_1754.jpegNissan Leaf 2023. 40 kWh - 110 Kw
A beautiful car. I love everything about this car. I bought it as a used car, with 10.000 km. on the clock. Iā€™m totally new to electric cars, and have a lot to learn.
Thatā€™s why I have joined this group šŸ¤—
Thank you for the membership.

There is a thread (I don't know how to direct you to it but it does have pictures). The negative terminal on the 12 volt has an extra set of wires going to it, it's not just a thick black grounding wire. It's a black plastic connector that clips onto the terminal with 4 small wires in it. you dont need tools to disconnect it. This bundle of wires, or one of them,(I dont know) controls how much charging the 12 volt gets and for how long. Un clip it and your dc-dc charging for the 12 v goes to its max. No warning lights are tripped, and the battery will not over charge. I have a small digital gauge that plugs into the 12 v power port, it monitors the 12 v batt for me as the car is being driven. ( it is called 'Innova" you can get them at NAPA stores in the US). I don't know how to attach pics, hopefully a member here can. It's a simple fix that will prevent the shortening of the 12 v batt life. It is the only other connector on the neg terminal besides the heavy black wire, you can't unclip the wrong one. Good luck, happy charging!

Gah. Now I gotta go look.

can you elaborate on that please ?
The Leaf's 12 volt battery supplies the current to run the car's accessories and "turn on the main traction battery.
The factory design charges the 12 volt from the traction battery, using a charge profile like is used for storage batteries, not starting batteries.
Some people have reported problems with it, others have no problem.
The charge profile by the factory measures the current draw of the charge and switches to a float voltage when the battery current uptake is low.
What is being suggested is to un plug the current detector so charging profile doesn't allow it to taper.
Up to you, but isn't required or even necessarily helpful.
The car automatically stays at the higher charge voltage when the wipers are on.

God reply - thank you. Iā€™ll go a check now. :)

Not sure, but what has been reported and I think I remember reading in the service manual. Not sure why they would "boost" it wiper turn on then dial it back? I thought it was Nissan's way of periodically give the 12 volt an "equalization".
