Paypal/Ebaby invoice?

i'm new to selling on ebay and I'm confused about what an invoice is? Could anyone explain what they're for and do I have to create/send one every time I sell an item? Thanks so much.

When you sell something the buyer gets an invoice automatically. The only time you would send an invoice is if you need to calculate special shipping charges or if the buyer is taking too long to pay. Then you send another invoice and remind them. Usually when I sell I state that payment must be made within 48 hours. I don't have time for people that need to wait to get paid on Friday to pay me.
