From NHTSA document RMISC-24V071-8657.pdf: "Nissan has developed a proposed remedy, and expects to complete validation of it
... since my camera works just fine, I haven't contacted the dealer yet.
From the recall notification: " If the rearview camera displays properly, your dealer will apply protective tape and reroute the rearview camera harness to prevent the harness movement."I went through this process last week, and the recall was a waste of my time. I was told by my dealer when I called that the recall involved a firmware update. So I dutifully made the appointment and then spent an hour sitting in their showroom.
When the car was handed back to me, I learned that the recall was actually an inspection of the rear view camera operation by the technician. If the camera is working fine, as mine was, they do nothing. I already knew my camera and its harness were good. If yours is also, don't waste your time on this, and put the notice in the recycle bin.
Well that only lasted for a couple of months. My rear view camera has started to fail again. I'll contact the dealer next week to have them fix it....again.Looks like Nissan is currently testing the fix for this recall. I had reported the problem to my dealer on my 2022 Leaf, and they had backordered a new camera. But they were contacted by Nissan engineering wanted to know exactly what my symptoms were and how often it failed. An engineer flew out to our dealer with some parts, and they did testing on my car for about a day and ended up just replacing the wiring harness (said the camera was not the problem). So far, no more problems.
Same here. My camera worked just fine. Dealer even ordered another camera as mine was not the correct type for the recall. Not sure why...From the recall notification: " If the rearview camera displays properly, your dealer will apply protective tape and reroute the rearview camera harness to prevent the harness movement."
So not a waste of time as far as I'm concerned.
I had it done last week.
There was absolutely nothing in the paperwork that describe taping the harness. It says they performed an inspection, nothing further. From the recall notification: " If the rearview camera displays properly, your dealer will apply protective tape and reroute the rearview camera harness to prevent the harness movement."
So not a waste of time as far as I'm concerned.
I had it done last week.
