For those who have lost their 4th bar on a 2016 and used leaf spy pro do remember what your SOH was when the last bar dropped? Currently at 66.9%, 73000 miles, and have until October 2025 for warranty replacement based on my in service date of October 2017.
The 4th bar goes away at 66.25%. 1st at 85%, 2nd at 78.75%, 3rd at 72.5%, 4th at 66.25%.
 
I have a 2019/2020 black leaf tekna 40kwh. I bought it on december 2020. After 121.000km I had some battery issues.
I take some photos of the open battery pack.

I have a 2019/2020 black leaf tekna 40kwh. I bought it on december 2020. After 121.000km I had some battery issues. I take some photos of the open battery pack.
Is that deformation on the sides the result of swelling of the cells? What sort of battery issue were you having? Degradation? Isolation?
 
Dealer told me today there are 168 pre 2018 leafs waiting for batteries in North America

On the bright side new claims should start slowing down as more vehicles have aged out of the 8 year warranty, although I guess the depends on how many vehicles are hitting 8 bars under the wire
 
I'm curious for those that had purchased a used Leaf and opted for the buyback, did you get the full purchase price back or was there a lower amount based on usage? How successful was everyone with getting usage waived?

While I didn't accept the offer, they waived the usage fee for me-- and I was offered the full purchase price of $11,300.00.

I purchased this vehicle 18 months ago as I thought it was a good candidate for the warranty claim and I was starting to sweat it a little bit as my service date is 7/29. I have an appointment at my Nissan dealer Monday morning and I proactively opened a case with Nissan CA today as well. I'll let the community know if anything out of the ordinary happens.

Wish me luck! I really like this car as it does exactly what I need it to do. Hopefully I can get a battery, but I won't be holding my breath.

The adjuster got back to me today. Prior to today, the adjuster went silent for a month (March 8th until now). The entire process took from November 2023 until now. Technically 3.5 months (Jan 8th until now). The first Nissan rep was crap. I complained and was given a second, and higher leveled, arbitration specialist in early Jan. Next week Monday will make it month 5 since the car was dropped off though.

Anyway, I asked for them to waive the usage fee due to insurance costs ($5000 and some change per year and I had the car for two years counting 2024). I’m expecting word back tomorrow. I’m glad the light at the end of the tunnel is finally visible. 2020 base Leaf

Out of curiosity, why do you think Nissan will waive their proposed usage fee based on your insurance cost? Is your insurance cost so high due to how the vehicle is used or other reasons?

I don’t have any reason. I just threw it in there as SOME reason rather than just an ask. They got back to me and waived half of it. I accepted the agreement. Now it’s going to take up to another MONTH for Morley to give me a surrender date (it’s already at the dealership so…). The good news is, once the date is decided and the review goes well, I get the check in hand same day. I’m hoping everything gets settled by next week, or the first of May the latest. IMG_6744.jpeg
 
I just took my 2017 into the dealer for a warranty assessment. After the perfunctory service upselling, a couple of salesman came out and said that Nissan "now has the materials to make the replacement batteries". Has anyone heard this? I take this info with a block of salt...

They want a couple of days to evaluate and discuss my warranty with Nissan, is that normal? I'm guessing it takes 10 minutes to plug in and get the battery condition, maybe another 10 to update the software?

Nissan warranty services had my dealer do tests that took a couple of days. I suspect they are looking for conditions that could be fixed by replacing some modules, rather than the entire battery.

Would need to see evidence of this claim like clearing the backlog
