Does the battery replacement warranty only applies to the original owner or also applies to 2nd or even 3rd owner? If the year and miles are the only thing the dealer cares, then I think the used Leaf price might get a boost? :?:

In North America it applies to the car regardless of the who owns it.

If it's a 2011 or 2012 there is some concern that the original owner could have opted out of the class action lawsuit though I think there are strong defenses against this.

I simple call to the Nissan EV Customer service phone number and they will confirm if the VIN number you are considering has opted out or not.

I read this an my jaw got sore in hunger thanx me lad

Just dropped my 4th bar last week, at roughly 45,150 miles. Dropped the car off at Nissan today to request the battery replacement under warranty, specifically mentioning the class action lawsuit settlement letter I'd received stating that Nissan would be replacing the bad battery with a new 2015 pack. We'll see how it goes. (Mon 4/4)

So far so good... service manager said they submitted all the paperwork for the replacement, and that a battery pack ("that's the 2015 pack?" "yes, the updated battery") is ordered... but with a 3 to 6 week ETA. (Wed 4/6)

--(moved this from a different thread)--

I have another 60 days or so to drop the 4th bar. You would think there's epidemic product failure when more 10% of battery failing under warranty. I am falling into the - a day too late or - a mile too short category.

When did you drop to 9 bars? It took me 6 months of Florida heat to lose the last bar. You are right, Nissan has deliberately set the threshhold so low that most people aren't going to qualify, which is why Nissan is never selling me another car. No one should have to deal with 30%+ range loss. Do you have access to someone with LeafSpy, to see your exact capacity?

My last 8th bar lost was in Jan. 16., and my 5 years is coming in Jun. That why I am feel I am so close, but probably not making it, and I don't do any abusive driving either. This is suckie on part of Nissan.

Lost 4th bar yesterday @43.44 AHr - a bit earlier than I had anticipated but just on time. Just shy of 57k miles and 3 more months to go before warranty expires. Off to the dealer on Sat!

Here's LeafSpy data of the progression for those interested. As I had suspected, it seems like the car did as much balancing as possible before the last bar drop which explains the rise in AHr. It also backs up my theory that frequent L2 charging (ie. more than once a day) and QC charge will engage more balancing which will raise the AHr - at least temporarily. The bar loss is probably related to the average AHr level after balancing.

Lost the 4th bar on my used 2011 leaf. Just bought last month knowing it was at 9 bars and should be close. I had until June 1 for it to drop. Rolled the dice and won! Here are the stats...

44,116 miles, SOH - 64%, AHr - 42.38, Hx - 43.40%, 57.7% GIDs (162)

Max charge was getting me around 50 miles. So, let's just say that I am super glad to get a new battery. I'll post updates on how the replacement goes.

Congrats and smart buying! 50 miles was a dead giveaway (your 4th bar dropped at almost the exact same AHr as mine).

Count me in. I'm in line almost right now. I just went down to 9 bars 2 weeks ago at 49,000 Miles. I have maybe 18 months for my 5 years to expire so time is in my favor, but not mileage. Hopefully in the next 10,000 miles I can lose that last bar for replacement.

Currently, I have to quick charge maybe once a day, sometimes twice. On weekends it isn't unusual for me to QC 9 times in 2 days now that my capacity is crippled. Before then it wasn't as much as an issue. I could make it on maybe 3 with a 4th in case I had somewhere to be on Monday. With a home Level 2 installed now I don't Level 3 charge as often.

Got a call my battery had arrived this week (a little earlier than I had expected). Brought in my car early This Friday morning 4/15 thinking they might complete on same day, but they indicated they needed three days. After installing battery have to charge up, then drain down all the way by driving car they said. Hmm? Anyone ever been told that?

Should be ready next Tuesday.

They are providing loaner gas car. Same key as my Leaf. When I pressed the start button, the engine kicked on. Felt strange.

P.s. AHr had dropped down to 42.88. And car now has 55,007 miles on it.

I'm still waiting on my Battery! It's been 8 weeks! I see people Getting their battery's in 3 weeks in the same area as me. It's not like I live in the middle of nowhere, I'm in So Cal and we probably have the most Leafs per capita than anywhere else.
Okay done ranting for the day.

Sorry to hear that, but I fear this may become the norm as we hit summer (and more warranty claims). The problem is when the dealer wants to hang onto the car the whole time (like mine did).

Picked up My "New" Leaf on Monday (4/18), they were done a day early. Battery AHr = 66.14 ( measured that night at home with LeafSpy Lite). Hlth = 101.29. Still has 4 temp readings, thought new batteries only had three. Unfortunately first day we had record heat in the area and temp bars jumped to 6 bars. Lots of regen circles available. Dealer drove car about 60 miles during testing. Two additional QCs on LeafSpy Lite.

New Battery info: 295B03NF9E
Lot = 18?
Plant/Line = SM1 (Smerna?, Tennessee)
Serial No. 1631000073
24kWh. Nissan. E48A

Just picked the car back up from the dealer after they okayed the replacement. Battery is ordered as of yest/today. Hoping I won't have to wait too long. I believe they said 4-6 weeks for me (in Oklahoma). I'll keep updates on here as well as my new battery readings when I get it back.

Took my car to Elk Grove Nissan today with 8 bars left and they told me that is perfectly normal and I should expect the battery to continue a fast decline and failure then they charged me $62.50 for my wasted time. Need to call 877nogasev and get them straight on the court settlement and warranty. Frustrated that my local dealership is so useless on this.
