Once upon a time, US Republicans actually stood for strong national defense, a balanced budget, democratic ideals and traditions, freedom of the press, and even family values. Not that they uniformly acted on these notions, but they at least made an effort some fraction of the time. A friend came over last night to borrow money. I'd left my phone upstairs, so I had no warning when the doorbell rang. I didn't let her in, but I was exposed to the air around her, briefly, when I lifted a bag through the door onto the porch. The Exposure Clock resets yet again...
