Week of Feb 9
Week of Feb 14
The LEAF specialist at the dealer emailed me yesterday and said he'd talked to Nissan and I would have my car by Feb 9.
What's up with all of this, anyway?
Edit: I just got the call (well an email, actuallly). The truck just pulled up to the dealer with my car! He says I can pick it up tonight. So, what's up with the Nissan web page. It seems to have a very tenuous connection to reality...
The original estimate of Week of Feb 6 turned out to be fine, so why did they bother changing it?
Well, since they say that Feb 14 = +/- 1 week, they hit it right on the head at the -1 week mark
I do think for the most part they take your estimated date, add 1 week to it and that is what the web site shows.
My experience somewhat mirrored yours. It moved around slightly in the month leading up to my delivery but was relatively stable. Then a few days before it came in it suddenly jumped out by several days (I actually suspect this is when it was unloaded off the ship and they could more accurately estimate true delivery, and then did the +1 week thing). In the end I took delivery a day or two before the original "week of" date. I have no idea if that is the more typical experience. Obviously we see a lot of people that get moved out over and over and by more significant amounts of time, but that may just be because people that experienced a relatively stable and timely delivery estimate would not log on to "complain" about it.
What I don't understand though is why the experience should be any different for cars that are obviously on the same ship and headed to roughly the same area. You would think that any shifts would pretty much be identical. However others in my area that got their cars at around the same time I did (within a day or two) had different experiences. I wonder if it's something the dealers are doing (at the request of the customers) that prompts additional updates and churn? I didn't bother my dealer at all about the date or ask where the car was, and I'm pretty sure they weren't really monitoring it either, so maybe that's why I didn't see my date shifting around much. :?:
