Is the $8k off the residual owed?????
yes.
I went in there today. balance on my lease was $16,426 with 16 months still to go on a 3 yrs lease.
They took $8000 off that, well $7750, they needed to make something off me. So $8000 -minus $250 for the dealer.
Details:
Balance $16,426
Down to $8,676
Dealer fees $319
Utah Sales $616
Reg fee $72
other state fee $160
Total out the door $9,843
I've paid in a total of $7,350-ish in lease payments so far, so I have paid a total (on the road) of $17,193 and owned it from new.
Not bad for owning it from new. Still a lot of money to me but better than the $24,000+ I was going to have to pay had all the numbers stayed as they were on all the original paperwork.
So, what have I learned? Not all dealers will treat you the same. The dealer in orange county that someone higher the thread mentioned wouldn't even bother to try and get a buy out price for me, telling me that i had to be within 90 days of the end of the lease. I was 16 months away from it.
I don't know if this guy has a 'Cheat code' to the nissan leaf lease system but he had no trouble doing the work and getting me this deal. I turned up and spent no more than 20 mins picking up the plate and signing papers.
His name is Todd Grace and his number is 801-693-7118.
If you tell him to treat you like he did Duncan, then he'll know what you guys are up to, you don't have to be in the same state but the discount is set by Nissan according to the VIN so have that ready when you contact him. i approached the original dealer but was given promises but never any numbers back. I think this guy is going to have a lot of leafy sales go through shortly if everyone with a good discount on their VIN can have him process them. It might be because it is at the end of the month and he was sweating his bonus? i don't know.
Good luck.
