    The Battery Replacement Thread

Thanks, matches the feeling in our family! I worried about that too. "Oh great, now I've degraded my battery AND I'M STUCK WITH IT." A few weeks ago I'd decided to give up and throttle back, start (my tame version of) hypermiling again...but my wife convinced me to keep the pedal to the metal...

    The Battery Replacement Thread

FIrst: Thanks! Heater: It is a small draw compared to the floor-it/drop-it acceleration game, but the extra, constant drain -- and, I dunno, possibly the heat itself -- would hasten the battery going from 5 to 6 bars on the temp display. On 62 degree days, I could get that battery temperature...

    The Battery Replacement Thread

I managed to lose the 9th bar at what was, pretty much, the last possible moment. It was on Friday, 6/10/16. Leading up to that, I'd kind of given up hope. AHr readings were in the mid-43.xx range, so there was some possibility, but time was running out. 5 years was actually on 6/15, but...

    The Battery Replacement Thread

I'm guessing the commute there alone -- stopping to charge every 35-40 miles -- would probably help a lot, too. Afraid I'll have to pass, but thanks!

    The Battery Replacement Thread

Where my father-in-law got his done, and where I hope to get mine done. My experience with them has been very positive; so was F-I-Ls on his replacement. That one screen capture--GIDs off the chart?!?! Nice!

    The Battery Replacement Thread

So, you've been clunking since August? Probably time to have that looked at. If they replace it under warranty, you could say "You know, the battery is getting pretty low, too...can we save a trip, and do that now as well?" And yes, it's a real mystery why your capacity loss has been slower...

    The Battery Replacement Thread

I've had exactly one QC--that at the dealer. The QC's I see are in systems I'm not part of, or at the dealer (Mossy O'side). And there, I asked if I could get a QC once; the service guy said ask for the card from the sales guys. I went to park at the charger, and someone was just plugging in...

    The Battery Replacement Thread

As David Bowie would have said, "Drive like a demon from station to station". That's part of what I'm doing as well, lately: I'll punch it and coast, on and off as much as possible, to keep the battery going from discharge to recharge. However, it seems to prove the adage, that what doesn't...

    The Battery Replacement Thread

I'm another guy trying to lose that 4th bar, in my case by mid-June, who tried to keep it topped-off for a while. Easy to do, as I have a short commute and free chargers at work. During about a 3 week stretch that I did this, I checked AHr frequently. It started at 44.50, and ended up at...

    SDG&E EV study rate increase

Yeah, that's a non-starter, unless you actually can generate a surplus during the day even with all systems going at once (which would mean you'd probably also fit drees' "if you stay out of tier 3 and 4" scenario). Works for us as during the week there's no one home, the house stays cool...

    SDG&E EV study rate increase

And even if you have PV and get into the top tiers of DR rates sometimes (like I do), you might still do better with TOU rates--depending on when the bulk of your usage is. If it's during peak hours, not so much.

    SDG&E EV study rate increase

I gathered usage data from Energy Waves from Dec 2012 through Dec 2013 and compared my DR + EV meter rates with what single EV-TOU-2 would have been. During that time, I calculated a savings of about $160 by switching to EV-TOU-2. I see the EV-TOU-2 rates have gone up a bit as well since I did...

    SDG&E EV study rate increase

So apparently there are still different rates for different people? I got my letter, and my new summer rates are different than yours: Super Off-Peak: $0.14 (I assume you meant $0.13--$.013, sign me up!) Off Peak: $0.34 (yours $0.30, assuming that was Off-peak, not On-peak) On-Peak: $0.54...

San Diego Airport, 40 Level 2 Stations

Will do. I have a CP card, but have never used it. Reckon now I will.

San Diego Airport, 40 Level 2 Stations

I have a day trip tomorrow from/to Terminal 2, and am thinking of parking at one of these L2 stations. I've tried looking up any info about them, and all I can see is what Chargepoint tells me: That they are free (!) and you can't reserve them. No biggie there, a couple weeks ago I did the same...
