    Leafs in Utah

His user name here is ThorEdson. He's at the Murray store, to my knowledge. The Lease deal was shockingly good. Can't remember now if it came from him in an email or what? I'll let you know if I find it, in the meantime you can find him if you want. PM me (or him) & we'll get you in touch. What...

Is a Leaf usable in Park City, Utah?

HA! Come to Utah ! (But not necessarily that bastion of California style liberalism known as Park City!) ANYWAY. . . I have driven the LEAF to park city & back home in Salt Lake a couple of times. All the way to the top of old town where I was working on a house, IOW not stopping short down in...

    Official Tesla Model S thread

Hi Kyle! Yes, designer (or would it be engineer) types could certainly cram a few more in there, I suppose. Wouldn't it be better to go for density tho? Size and weight. Also as the Model Ss to date (til recently) have all been the "signatures", performance 85s, air suspension, etc. I'd say...

Poll : What is your reason for going Electric ?

I voted environment as primary reason but every option is on my list including -gasp!- performance (it's FUN to drive doesn't mean it's a race car), geek - been waiting a long time for something this cool (people say its ugly? not carrying around an ICE & a tank of juice - I say THAT'S...

    Official Tesla Model S thread

Such a development would depend entirely on higher energy density in the pack since there isn't room in the design (in the LEAF) for more volume of batteries, right? I know that is being very seriously pursued, but a jump from 24 to 36 or 40 is pretty big.

    Leafs in Utah

Hey Gary! I've been seeing quite a few LEAFs around just lately. For a long time it seemed like all 7 or 10 or? of us all knew each other, but now random sightings are getting common. Josh is still at Tim Dahle Nissan & he sent me the nice 2013 brochure w an amazingly low $ lease offer they...

    Leafs in Utah

nsps- you still with us? Sorry for the lengthy delay. This winter was nasty, a few good snowy periods, but mostly just cold COLD COOOOOLD. (Canadians laughing now) We switched charging timer to charge to 100% every day, which reminds me, I should go switch back to 80% right now! That, of course...

    Leafs in Utah

Mark, thanks for writing the letter, Kyle, thanks for posting it. ill have to unwrap my paper which is still in the rubber band! (been working). I have seen numerous references to EVs "running on coal" trying to give the false impression that they MUST therefore pollute more. First I would ask...

Please help! urgent/1 day to take back Leaf. range is awful

My son drove around for years without ever having MORE than 1/8 tank. (Only a slight exaggeration.) Come to think of it, he probably saved some fuel overall. ML

    Two Pleasant BEV Discoveries

Worst air pollution in the nation this winter, hands down, Salt Lake City & Wasatch front cities. Also, I call "urban legend" on the "no suicide w a modern ICE car" claim. As to the topic of this thread, I thought for sure you were going for the acceleration, not the quiet. But the combination...

Please help! urgent/1 day to take back Leaf. range is awful

Hey Dennas, going all the way back to your original post (glad you kept the LEAF btw, we sure love ours) it is my understanding that the 2 red dashes at the bottom of the "battery capacity" scale are just for that and don't indicate any sort of "red zone" to watch out for on the "battery charge"...

    Static electricity

All of my cars have done this to me always. Shocks calf muscle just as foot reaches ground, & other places/times. I guess it's another "special" thing about living in Utah where the humidity is about 5% when it's pouring rain! At least our sparks won't be igniting any fumes from the dinosaur...

Why is it so hard to believe?

A couple of paradigm shifting answers to common questions: Q:"how far can you go?" A:"we've gone eleven thousand miles, so far." OR Q:"how long does it take to charge?" A:" a few seconds, I plug it in & go into the house." I was sure my wife would be a sensation, a local hero as she drove...

    DOE's "EV Everywhere" blueprint

Ok, well I guess it's a graphic depiction of a hybrid which are included in their PEV category. Problem is, "lightweighting" is one of three technical targets. Want your EV "lightweighted?" Take the ICE & all the crap that's attached to it back to the smelter. Duh. You just exceeded your...

    DOE's "EV Everywhere" blueprint

I would mention the radiator but my LEAF actually has one of those, and a transmission (?) gearbox. Wonder how many pallets of crates of boxes of those they printed? It's very well done really- one very strange fatal flaw. What's the txt abbreviation for "just shaking my head"? jsmh. You saw it...

Help! They can't seem to fix my Leaf

Sorry I can't help w your LEAF, just want to add that someone smarter than me should get these stories right to Carlos Gosen or Brendan Jones or?? Those guys are sharp enough to know that one horror story can outweigh a thousand glowing testimonials in the minds of a skeptical public they are...

    DOE's "EV Everywhere" blueprint

Should we ask them why their EV has an exhaust manifold, catalytic converters and 2 huge mufflers just before the fancy chrome tailpipes?

How much mileage are you getting in this cold weather ?

Weeks-long stretch of (what I call) very cold weather in Salt Lake City this Jan. single digits in the morning, mid teens in the afternoon. Terrible awful air pollution too. Our long term average for warm weather has been 4.3 mi/kWh. So around 90+ miles IF we press it to LBW which we almost...
