Buying an outdoor dock

I see I can get an outdoor docking station from Lowes, or Home depot. Would I be better off looking online for a better deal? Or better unit. The 2 I looked at were GE models.

You will get a far better selection looking online, and depending on your charging needs you might spend less as well. There are many EVSE's (which I think is what you mean by "docking station") which are outdoor rated. Brands include:

AeroVironment (Nissan's "official" charging solution, available with and without Nissan branding)

Clipper Creek

Siemens

Leviton

Legrand

Bosch PowerMax

Blink

The GE Wattstations have had issues with the Leaf on-board charger before. I don't know if that has ever been addressed via a software update.
