Hi Andrew, thanks for reserving your 100% electric Nissan LEAF™. We just wanted to let you know you'll be able to order your new Nissan LEAF in September 2010.
My reservation was processed 4/20.

New guy in San Antonio here. What's happening?

Does anyone know if we're going to be getting them at Ancira or Gunn Nissans or will we have to pick them up in Austin first?

Welcome aboard!

Don't know yet about our dealers. IPAQ, Ancira, World Car, and Gunn are on Nissan's list as Leaf dealerships.

ANCIRA has a Leaf specialist - Yogin Trivedi. So far I don't know if they will hold at MSRP - my email exchange with Ancira paused cold when I pressed them on exactly what they charge for a new car. ;) Yogin - [email protected] Nissan had a rep at Ancira 1st or 2nd week of July. Ancira is apparently still deciding on chargers, but Yogin suggested they'd have at least 1 Level 3 quick charger.

It's been a couple of months since I visited IPAQ - they didn't yet have a specialist.

Andy

edit...gack...I 'moved' Yogin to Gunn - he's at Ancira! Sorry!

Don Davis's internet guy wouldn't commit to MSRP either. It was weird, he would just flat ignore the question.

Sample exchange:

Me: I configured my car and specified Don Davis Nissan when I did the original "$99" deal on 4/20/10. I haven't received any emails to finalize my order or dealer yet. I want to get my dealer selection squared away before the August notifications go out. Not paying more than MSRP is very important to me, it will probably be the overriding reason in my dealer selection. Are you the Don Davis Leaf specialist? Do you know if Don Davis is planning on charging more than MSRP?

His reply: Nissan says they'll be sending out emails to all reservation holders about ordering specifics. LEAF vehicles for Texas will be ordered in September, but they'll have more details for you in their email.

We did about about 3 rounds of that. I would specifically ask about MSRP and he would ignore it and reply with something else.

I will start calling other DFW dealers this month.

Info from Ancira Nissan...

Leaf specialist: Yogin Trivetti [email protected]
Internet Manager: Cesar Estrada [email protected]

- Would not directly answer whether they'd sell the Leaf for MSRP

- Sales fee breakdown:
-- 6.25% state tax
-- $80 registration
-- $48 two-year inspection
-- About $160 documentary fee
-- $5 deputy fee
-- $99 anti-theft (window etching) "It is applied on every vehicle on our lot for your protection."

- They expect to have their first Leaf in January (likely one of our pre-orders)

I would prefer to buy my Leaf from Gunn Nissan because we had a Nissan before it got wrecked by a cell-phone moron at the 1604/I-10 interchange and we had a great rapport with Gunn Nissan. So we'd prefer to keep it with them, because they were so great.

I would not have a problem with paying slightly over MSRP, but I will not pay much more. The privilege of the $99 is that I get to get the car earlier than others will. I better do it without paying too much more.

I meant no disrespect. I just made the offer. My blog contains no advertising, and is written entirely by me as an interested potential owner of the LEAF. You may certainly choose to ignore all of my posts here as well.

Others have commented, LEAFguy, as well. I have a blog and two business websites. I don't use every opportunity to insert my websites into threads on this board. It's considered rude to come into someone's 'house' (this is Mike's) and try to get folks to leave and come to your party.

Those are just my thoughts, though - your mileage may vary and objects in your world might not be closer than they appear.

Hey, come on, guys!!! We're all Leaf Guys here, we should be happy people!

I had a question for you Texas guys: would you get a vanity plate for your Leaf? What would it be? Don't post it if you think someone may steal it before you get it, haha!

Sounds like you've had fun with the morning bumper-cars. Sorry!

I've been in VW land for the 8 years I've been here. I'm about 4 miles from Ancira VW and have used their parts department about four times. I much prefer to use Rod East VW though - their parts folks are nice to talk with, know their cars and their parts, have done magic finding parts, and give me a 20% discount as well. Apples and oranges in a big way. ;)

I need to check-in at IPAQ again, then get some face-time at Gunn.

Do you know anything about World Car?

Andy

I'll not likely get a vanity plate as I have a DV tag.

I don't know anything about World Car, unfortunately. I really have been too busy lately to have had time to check out all the dealers, but I want to talk to my old guy at Gunn, just to see what they know/think about the Leaf. Maybe when it's closer to release? I'm not sure. No sense wasting their time and ours if no one really knows anything.

As for the vanity plates, I've found 10 possibilities that are related to either the Leaf or to electricity that I think would be fun to have! And they're available, too!

Guys, I know that you're in Texas, but you might want to check out this post on my blog.

It is common for enthusiasts to maintain personal blogs and also participate in forums. You can see a lot of that in Prius or Tesla forums, for example.

I think the correct way to handle it is to
- put the link to the blog in your signature (as you have done)
- If there is a subject that needs a long post comes up you could post the summary here and link to your blog

Anything, else might be considered a spam.

I get to request a quote! Woo Hoo!

Me, too! It must be Leaf Day in Texas!

I really think we're being lied to by Nissan about ordering. The Sup said that no ordering emails would go out to any other states before the first five are finished. She even had the nerve to tell me that TX people posting about ordering was false. I'm starting to get really fed up with this whole process and the lying right to my ears. They just tell you what you want to hear and it is just one lie after another. I don't want to buy a car from a company that I no longer trust. It isn't fair the way they are doing it, and I'm about to delay my dream for a few years (maybe buy a Focus EV when they come out) and buy a new heatpump instead before the rebates and tax credits run out in Dec. I still have the cleanest burning ICE in the world! After seeing these Texas orders, I wish I could retake that stupid survey.

Ouch! Who is "The Sup" and where are you talking to her?

Maybe they meant they would complete the December delivery orders before taking a wider range? Hang in there, partner. Have some faith in Nissan, they are still working out the bugs in the process -- I don't think they are intentionally misleading you. And if you don't have the tax credit this year, a couple of days one way or the other on delivery won't make any difference.

J.
